Didn't Siddhārtha Gautama, the Buddha, go through about 100,000 rebirths before he reached the point where he found enlightenment?

I dont know the number, but he did go through a lot. Kinda like moving one step closer to not attaching to suffering. There's an analogy about a man shot by an arrow. He kept asking The Buddha about his injury while in pain. He asked who did it, why, how, etc. The Buddha says all of that is irrelevant. Whats important is relieving the pain first. Take out the arrow. Took him awhile to understand it. He figure we wouldnt but so far The Dharma says he changed his mind.

We'd probably go through the same. I read stories of children remembering past lives. I was never into things of that nature, NDEs etc, but its interesting nonetheless.

It is interesting, although my hope and peace is in Christ and the assurance of eternal life with Him in an eternal world of love, beauty and peace.

I am looking forward to the glorious day when Jesus returns. I don't think it will be too much longer. What about you?

Since he was sent to sacrifice his blood once and for all, why would he return? In what way does he return, if any? A man walking on the street? A literal or figurative presence? In spirit or in body?

I can't actually define soon, because I think it is inappropriate to set dates. I just sense that it will be soon because Israel has been a nation again for seventy years and it seems to me that the church age is coming to an end. God will again be dealing with and highlighting Israel.
I can't wait for the church age to end so we can pull the pin on religious tradition dragging down the human race.

The scriptures state that He returns to the Mount of Olives to save Israel ...And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south.(Zechariah 14:4)

What makes you think God loves to see the world divided over religion? He will be glad to see the back of it and so will I.....There was no religion in the garden of Eden.

define the rot please, cause I get the feeling that could mean, everyone that doesn't believe should die.

As He was speaking to His disciples concerning the end of the age and the tribulation, He told them these things would occur, including His return, before the generation which sees Israel back in the land again passes away.

“Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. Matthew 24:32-35

I will not have to recognize Him, although Jesus will always have the nail scars. I believe all believers will be changed in the twinkling of an eye to meet Him in the clouds before the tribulation. After that, eye on earth will see Him coming on the clouds.
Thanks for your response. I suppose I’m familiar enough with the beliefs held by some Christians about the rapture and tribulation so what you say is consistent with that belief. It’s obviously one interpretation of verses that can be understood in a variety of ways. If it happens as you belief it will certainly be an unprecedented event in human history that would defy all logic and reason. I see the return of Christ as being similar to when he came the first time. Some will recognise Him and many will not because He did not meet their Messianic expectations.

Thanks for your thoughts. What do you think about the antichrist? Do you think some or many people may believe in a false Christ instead....the antichrist? I actually it will take an event like the rapture to provide the opportunity for a false antichrist world leader to arise.
