Which Son?

Why would you insult the god concept like that ?

If a god made that many mistakes, and wrote in mythology, and rhetoric, it would be sad.

The bible factually is not inerrant. Humans wrote it, not god.

I agree that the Bible has "historical errors" and I wrote it in my post. I am not talking about material truth, I can understand that God wouldnt care about that. Material truth is for material beings.
What a seeker should care about when reading a spiritual book are the spiritual truths. In other words, Abraham didnt even need to exist, the story about Him would still be true. The flood didnt need to happen at all, the story about it is still true.

You can disagree with me, but maybe Unification knows what I am talking about.

Lol guys, I don't believe any of this story either.

I'm just curious as to why Muslims believe it was Ishmael.

If Al Nabi Al Ishaq AS , He AS was more like Al Nabi Al Muusa AS , while if Al Nabi Al 'Isma'il , He AS was more like Al Abu Bakar Ash Shiddiiq RA .

Was Abraham going to sacrifice, Isaac or Ishmael?

Imo it's pretty clear cut for me that it was Isaac, the OT and the NT agree. The Qur'an never actually names the son, though contemporary Muslims believe it was Ishmael. I say "contemporary" because within historic Islam the issue was not as clear cut and some Muslims were arguing pro-Isaac.

Who was it?

Christians and Muslims are religions that spun off of the Jewish religion.

So, Muslims are Jews....same God.

It doesn't make sense to rewrite the original bible. Did the prophet Mohammad learn that it ws not Isaac? It doesn't seem right that God would write a bible and be wrong about it.

Therefore, I would say that Isaac was the one.

Yes history and personal belief can sometimes be at odds. And considering Abraham as an actual person his family was polytheistic until Abraham was called from his homeland by God. As far as history and personal belief I once asked a professor friend of mine who Is also Christian how he reconciled the fossil record with the bible. (We were on a dig at this time) His reply was simply "I dont. The bible is not a book on geology, it is a book on spirituality." Perhaps this applies to our discussion as well. Thank you for your thoughts.
I dig.

Hi,
Abraham was asked by Jehovah to take Isaac to the mountain. (Ge 22:1,2)
