How Can We Stop Wars?

Cede your military to the United Nations. If the UN were the only superpower conflicts might be nipped in the bud. Catastrophes like Darfur would never happen.

The first thing I would suggest is to drop the barriers and dissolve the sanctions. These are lines meant to divide certain belief systems or groups, and are counterproductive to the TRUTH that WE are ALL ONE.

The second thing I would do is raise awareness on the importance of life.

Stop being patriotic, or even go the whole hog and get rid of countries. There'd still be conflict but on nothing like the same scale. To paraphrase Bill Hicks - why should we be proud of somewhere just because that's where our parents had sex?

Hehehe. Reminds me of that quote from a US Senator about racism in US, "We should all just keep f--king each other until we're all the same color."

LOL Crass, but in a way inspired. :D

Seriously ? I have often thought of what makes nations unite; and that is a common enemy.

It has occurred to me more than once that if someone could mock up a thread from aliens to the whole of the Earth, that we would find nations forgetting their differences, and pooling resources.

It wasn't a real senator, it was a fictional senator from the film "Bullworth". Good film, though.

Oops... lol

I refuse to be embarrassed though. I've gotten mad at friends for things I dreamed they did... so this is nothing.

Having armies subject to the will and agenda of a few other powerful nations would be exceptionally foolish.

the sentiment is admirable but in reality the UN is a paper tiger unwilling to step in when needed

Thier would be no way to stop producing weapons, since everything can be used as a weapon.
Might just have to exterminate the human race to end all wars.

Switch the entire world to what I describe as Utopian Socialism. Basically this is a system where you still work, but there is no money, and everything you need to live comfortably is available to you. Without the need for wealth, many of the worlds problems will be solved.

The mandatory weed would work too, because if you got the munchies, nothing else matters:D

Reduce the interest in war.

One practical and immediately effective way might be in refusing ridiculous subsidies to arms producers. That is our money, guys.

Perhaps we people here in Britain could do more to help our political leaders remain focused on their job as elected representitives of the people, and less concerned in acting as arms salesmen to foriegn clients or corporate consultants. We could shoot them. But that's drastic and revolution is so eighteen hundreds unfortunately. If you're in a constituency where your elected member of Parliament flys off to Saudia Arabia to seal Eurofighter sales for instance, get a pen ready and tell the scumbag you aint voting for him/her or his/her party again. Organise petitions. Call meetings.

Perhaps currencies that make economic interactions with foriegners easier will aide us a little in reducing the chauvinistic froth from our midst that makes waging war a doddle for administrators.

A referendum before going to war would have probably prevented the UK entering the coalition in Iraq. Perhaps a constitutional right to a referendum that can't be overruled by the Parliament would reduce aggresive wars.

The only way I can think of is to have a strict facist government that achieved domination of either the world or nearly the whole world. Of course that would only last as long as the government, which I'm sure would eventually become corrupt and collapse due to rebellions and its own corruption.

To have a lasting peace there is one thing I think would help a great deal that I can think of no way to achieve. That is to somehow eliminate all of the vendettas that people have against each other. So much of the violence that occurs is due to people wanting revenge.

hey sexy mama...wanna kill all humans??
Heheh. A popular futurist scenario is of human dominance being overthrown by technologically created beings possessing vastly superior intelligence to our own. If such a scenario occurs its likely the problems of human over-population and human on human war would not be prevented somehow. Let's hope they find a way to do it that feels nice!

Ever seen the film Equilibrium? It deals with exactly this idea.

Easy.

Just sit back and let injustuce reign , allow anyone to do anything they want to you and your loved ones. You can plead and discuss all you want (until you bug someone into killing you) but, you must never physically resist them.

Simple.
