Freaky dream/ demonic forces real?

I didn't know where to post this--so here goes. It's about a dream I had a few nights ago that scared the crap out of me, and I just want some opinions, etc., on it. I dreamt I was in this room in some house, and I was with some other people, when all of a sudden there was a loud noise outside, the room vibrated a little, and a bright, bluish-white light glared in through the windows. It reminded me of all those alien movies, and UFO sightings you hear about, when the UFO lands. I just knew right away that it was a UFO. And apparently so did the other people, and they got really excited. Well, that's when it got scary for me. As I stood there, staring at the light, some invisible force suddenly grabbed hold of my arm and started pulling me toward the light outside. And it was incredibly strong. I suddenly sensed that whatever that thing outside was, it was evil, and it was pulling me towards it. I struggled to stop myself, but to no avail, and as I was dragged closer I began to panic in sheer terror. Finally it occurred to me to call on God's help, so I tried to speak--however, this too was extremely difficult; I felt as if that same evil invisible force was smothering me. But at last I managed to get out the words, "In the name of Jesus, stop!" immediately, I woke up. But even though I was relieved that it was just a dream, I was still trembling as I lay there, and felt as if that same evil presence was in my room. So I prayed, and eventually I felt at peace and went back to sleep.

What are others' thoughts on this? To me, this experience, and others I have had, seem to point to the presence of actual demonic/spiritual forces at work. I also don't think it was a coincidence that when I spoke the name of Jesus, I woke up--I have spoken His name before in bad dreams, and I have either woken up, or the dream suddenly improved. Does anyone have other explanations?

Hope , I am having a hard time getting started on this one . I am a dreamer . I love dreams . And dreams can be so many things ... there are so many types of dreams .

But here , there is more then a dream involed . There is also the matter of your Faith . And that is where I'm having problems . I'm not sure how to handle this within the boundries of your Faith .

Freud believed that the images in dreams were signs . An image always meant the same thing . For excample , a Stop sign means STOP! Right ? However Jung believed that the images were symbols . As such , they often mean the same thing , however our personal experiences influenced those meanings . For excample , a Stop sign means STOP , unless you have had an experience such as running a Stop sign in real life and had an accident . Then the Stop sign may mean so much more then STOP . It could also mean danger or even lost .

Having explained that , there is not doubt that your Faith plays a huge part in your dreams . Calling upon Jesus for excample . { I wonder by you felt that you had to say that out loud ? Would a mental call have worked ? Just wondering ... } .

I have not doubt that there were " Demons " or " Spirits " involed . Just what those " Demons " were however , I can't say , although I tend to think that they were most likely your own demons . But perhaps not . I do believe in Spirits , just can't say what they actually are . But I am quite sure that they have no power over us that we don't give them .

My advice would be that the next time you have a dream like that one , to take control of it by calling upon Jesus , not to stop the dream , but to find out what it means . That is if you aren't bothered by doing this . I believe that most dreams are our subconscious trying to reach us . It has something to tell us . I have a lot of control over most of my dreams . I can change them as easily as most change channels on a TV , most of the time . When I dream and don't have that type of control , then I pay attention to that dream . Or if something is out of place , such as no sound . These dreams are usual for me , so I tend to think that the meassage is unusual .

Above all else , have faith in your Faith .

Hope sorry about your dream. I haven't had nightmares since I was a kid but I do remember that the evil bad stuff would go away when I turned on the light. I am afraid I don't think much about the metaphysical and don't really have an opinion other than I am glad you are ok, sorry you were scared and hope you try the lightswitch thing....

Would a swastika mean the same to a Native American or a hindu as it does a Jew? If you saw one of the holiest symbols of an unknown culture and you had no idea that was what it was, would it's power resonate forth and show itself to be that or would it just be a meaningless statue, symbol or something else to you, maybe just an interesting novelty?

What I am trying to say is that symbols, beliefs, etc. have absolutely no power or attributions save except that which we ourselves give to them. You can make yourself a victim of them as well, conciously and even unconciously if it is a deeply rooted belief. Even if you do not go to church or consider yourself a practitioner of whatever belief system that sent you demons, you most likely live in a culture or family structure that supports a belief in the same in some way- just because this might be so (or not) doesn't mean you have play the rat to the piper.

I have had a dream similiar to this though it was not as frightening but it had the same ending. Having read many reference books on the topic of UFOs to many UFO researchers this dream of yours would indicate a classic case of reliving a past abduction experience. Since you now UNDERSTAND the key to controlling this dream I would use this technique in case the dream manifests itself again. I am usually not in the habit of quoting BIBLICAL scripture but if it would help you overcome your fears Proverbs 18:10 says that "the name of GOD (Jehovah) is a strong tower. Into it the righteous runs and is given protection."

The swastika is a prime excample of an " Unverisal Symbol ". It is a type of Cross . Jung said that many symbols , such as the Cross showed up in just about every culture , giving them an unverisal importance and meaning . However , when something happened to change our view of that meaning , such as WW2 , that symbol takes on a whole diiferent meaning . That was what I was getting at the " Stop sign ". Sometimes these " happenings " only effect one person , or a very few people . Then only their understanding of the symbol changes . This makes their views of that symbol no less meaningful , to them at lest .
