School shootings are students' own problem, learning CPR the solution, says Santorum.

It's no wonder that Santorum got less than half the votes that Mitt Romney got in the 2012 Republican Party presidential primary. Even the bulk of Republicans aren't that dumb. . . . . . . . . . . . well at least they weren't.

They'll be fine. Just seal the exit wound with bubble gum.
Don't be silly - as everyone knows, the best way to seal an exit wound is with more guns! Just place the gun over the wound (maybe one or two more, depending on the size of the wound), and hold them in place with a rifle.

Guns can also be used to perform CPR! Although, with mixed results...

Rick Santorum to Student Activists: Don’t March, Learn CPR

Surely even most conservatives would agree that Santorum's statements are beyond imbecilic.

...right?
Actually... on this one point, I believe Santorum may actually, albeit incredibly hamfistedly, almost be making a valid point. In terms of net total lives saved, more people learning CPR would probably be of more long term benefit to the community than changing gun laws.

That said, it's hardly an either/or case. You can learn CPR AND advocate for sensible gun control.

CPR is great. But that is not the point. Santorum is saying that organizing demonstrations, registering people to vote, exercising their first amendment rights is “doing nothing”. He is saying there is something “lazy” about demanding action from your political leaders.

Dude is spot on. I always liked him but he makes valid points and he is being snarky about the CPR reference. I don't give a damn about these worthless shells of children and people like me do not look to politicians to escape the child abuse or depression we have. No externality is reliable enough to help your livelihood.

Santorum was my pick over Trump and he only seems to be getting better as a potential candidate. What he needs to do is drop his gay bashing and get over the vices of mankind and its deviant sexuality.

I guess I'm trying to give a smidge of benefit of doubt. I stand by my comment.

He also says that, by imploring politicians to take legislative action, students are expecting others to solve "their" problems, and that they should simply tackle the school shooting issue on their own by learning CPR.

"Oh my god! There's someone in the hall gunning down students and teachers and now he's heading strait for this classroom!""

"Jeez, would you relax? We took CPR courses, remember? We got this."
