Ok....well, heres a question that is apart from scripture.
On a creation/design level, the bodies of male and female biologically are made to intercourse and procreate together.
To have it as man and man or woman and woman goes against that design.
Allegory: jeans are designed to be worn on the legs. But wouldnt it be odd if we saw someone trying to wear it as a shirt? I guess we could say there free to do as they wish, there not hurting anyone. But....it still goes against the design of the jeans. Its still odd.
Whats your thoughts on this?
Ok, that’s pretty cool stuff.
I don’t see how intercourse matters, but it’s a fine thing to do, if you want to. It can also be used as evil. The creation of endless humans has not been a problem, since there have been well overr 100 billion of us, from what I read. The design is for continuation of the species, it’s not an imperative. Some people can’t have children who want them, some have them who shouldn’t, some have too many, some heterosexuals get married and have none. It’s a numbers game, the species will not die out from homosexual marriage. The real threat to the species is evil, since we now have the ability to destroy all life.
I would advise not getting too excited over a couple of verses where we really have no knowledge of the circumstances that Paul was in at the time. Focus on the words of Jesus for a while, and get a feel for what he taught, I had to take a period and ONLY read the ‘red’ words for a few months. It was refreshing.
He has a pretty clear message. I needed that badly. Doctrines were messing with my mind.
I started a thread on freedom. It originated from a study my wife and I were doing today regarding free will.
I will summarize.
The Lord MUST give us free will. Without it we cannot be saved.
That free will gives us great freedom to choose our way of life.
In choosing, we must decide between good and evil, on a continuous basis.
We often choose evil, it’s our nature.
But that choice always leads to misfortune. Hence, our freedom leads us to sin which puts us in bondage.
So, to be truly free, we must open our minds to the Lord.
He is the only source of goodness. There cannot be any other source. Humans are incapable of goodness.
Mark 10:18
Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good-except God alone.
Once we open ourselves to the goodness and truth that flows from the Lord, we are able to choose that goodness over evil.
It’s a slow process, but it grows over time.
That is what truly sets us free. The Lord said words to that effect.
Have you noticed that religion kind of interferes with the process?
They establish so many do’s and don’ts. If the flock comes to church on Sunday, checks off all the things they’re doing and not doing per the church rules, where is their freedom to make choices? It’s not free, since it is influenced by the religion. The religion is telling them what is truth, via someone’s interpretation of something in the Bible. The channel that should be freely open between the Lord and the individual is being messed with by an intermediary.
There is a pastor I admire who writes quite a few good books, which I like to read.
He’s been around a long time. He laments occasionally in his books about the state of the churches. He runs a large one.
He says most people are like parrots, who sit close together on their perch and get fed pablum. They like to cuddle and not stray from the group. He says we need more eagles.
Totally made sense to me.
We need to think for ourselves. Study and learn from as many sources as possible. We live in wondrous times with the internet.
Lots of information and knowledge.
I scour for more insight all the time. But I accept nothing that cannot be confirmed by the Word of the Lord.
I got off on a tangent.
Forgive me.
Anyway, I ‘m going to sleep.
Good night.
