Many Christians in the U.S. have a problem accepting homosexuals, LGBT’s, and immigrants. And there are some that have less than appropriate ideas about women and minorities. (As has been seen this past year or so).
Some use bible verses to support their evil ideas. This is so very sad.
It was revealed to me recently that these actions are actually contrary to the FIRST commandment. And contrary to the Lord as well.
Exodus 20:1-6
1And God spoke all these words: 2"I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 3"You shall have no other gods before me. 4"You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments
When a person takes their own ideas (“on the earth”) and/or bible verses (“of anything in heaven above”) and uses these ideas against other people, this is what is meant by “you shall not make for yourself an image”.
This is taking something contrary to the Lord (“an image”) and raising it above the Word of the Lord.
Hence, an idol. Something made of man, and not of the Lord.
Those ideas that say others (homosexuals, immigrants, minorities, women) are somehow not equal with you, are breaking of this commandment.
If you are caught up in this religious deception, please ask the Lord to open your eyes.
Worship of the Lord is evidenced when a person loves others. Loves others, respects others, treats others as you would want to be treated, period. Worship is not singing songs in a church building.
Matthew 15:9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.'"
