Well maybe the word "Utopia" should have had a question mark behind in in the title. Seems that CA is ranked last in quality of life.
California ranks last in quality of life in new report

Probably not a good idea for either party to take over uncontested. Then you get a bunch of good old boys scratching each other's back at the expense of everyone else.

I suspect you'd get similar problems in a fully Republican state.

Keep government in gridlock. The less they can get done the better.

The main problem with California is over population.

There's no infrastructural fix for congestion and pollution caused by over population. The only fix is to limit population.

California's GDP is comparable to a small country so... People want that income. Can't blame them for trying and moving here.

I'm doing pretty well, myself as a California, even with the crazy inflation I have to deal with.

A couple things leave me scratching my head here:
  • Why is this being politicized amongst party lines?
  • How do you measure quality of life?
I've never paid much attention to metrics that claim to measure quality of life. While I find attempts to quantify inherently qualitative and subjective human experiences interesting, I think the results are ultimately misleading and not particularly useful. And politicizing it? Good grief, isn't there enough of that already? I don't see any use in politicizing it.

True. WItness the disaster that Brownback made of Kansas with yet another failed attempt to cut taxes to spur growth. Republicans never learn.

And in yet another distorted right-wing posting, those on the bottom of the list are deep red states.

And CALIFORNIA (#32) IS AHEAD OF TEXAS (#36)-

No comment on the political side. His unspoken assertion is that Republicans make better states. He's far from proving it though...

As far as the report, I think it is valid just that the article he references doesn't state how. The original report does base itself in various typical categories like education, health, crime and so on...

Here is the methodology used:

IMO, it's good. I'm not surprised California is last in congestion and pollution. We have to face these statistics if we want to be able to fix them.

If you can read this, you are as lucky as I am.

So if the eight metrics measured, you pick one that looks the worst for Cali. . . And because the current government of California is Democrat, therefor we have evidence of what now?

I could say that if you add up all eight metrics and take the average, Lousisiana is ranked 50, so because the current government of that state is run by Republicans, therefore "blah blah blah conclusion"?

You should really just stick to single cognative bias when drawing conclusions . . . There are so many here I can't even properly break it down.

Maybe the word Democrat is what needed the quotes?
Trump got about four and a half million votes in California. More than the states that gave him the Electoral College vote.
Big states like California and Texas aren't partisan monoliths. It only appears that way to you hyper partisan people.

CA is not a Democratic utopia it is a Capitalist Utopia being comparable to other countries along with having poor people that come with unbridled capitalism. The right wants to blame government and left wants to blame the super rich but its the system itself which is to blame.

Yep, California is so terrible that it's the 6th largest economy in the world. Also, because of its weather, it will attract more homeless, much like Hawaii and Florida have.

At least they're not like Idaho whereas the potatoes are so much more intelligent than the people who live there. :p
