And the verses describing the wedding? Or is the bar for weddings set so low that simply announcing they were going to have sex now is enough?

Fornication ( porneia ) by any other name is still fornication ( Greek porneia )

Maybe Joe went through that quiet divorce after all?

So we have to turn to a completely different book to shoehorn in a meaning not present in the book actually under discussion?

Weddings can be big as they can be "I pronounce you man and wife" with no fanfare. How many have you done? I remember one church where after the sermon he said "Are you just living together and have decided that you want to please God and get married, come up now!" 6 couples came and he pronounced them "man and wife" and said "Go get the legal documents and I willl sign them".

Not at all... but "you are now husband and wife" doesn't mean that you don't know everything. :)

BIBLE VERSES ABOUT FORNICATION

I know this is how the King James Version translates the word, but as I pointed out, other translations don't. In my survey only 30% of the Bibles use "fornication" in 1 Corinthians 6:9. Sorry you went to all the trouble.

I believe it would have helped me if the translators had used the phrase pre-marital sex. As a youth I had no idea what fornication meant.

I recall years ago there being discussion if pre-marital sex was a sin.
One father told his son he did Not care if his son got a woman pregnant before marriage because that way he was sure of becoming a grandfather. So, he viewed adultery as wrong but Not fornication.

As a youth I am sure you had access to a dictionary, but if any person doesn't think to look up the word fornication that still places the blame on one's religious leader more so than the person.

Since I can't print out the Greek words used at 1 Corinthians 5:11; 1 Corinthians 6:9 often translated as: fornicator and fornication perhaps someone else here can do that.
The Greek word often translated as fornication is: Proneia.
Porneia is more comprehensive than just pre-marital sex because it includes all un-natural sex including having sex with an animal would be un-scriptural. Also, we get the English word Pornography or Porn from the word Porneia.

So, by Jesus giving ' immorality ' as grounds for divorce that includes more than just adultery because Porneia includes more than just adultery.

Seems to me that even if the English word ' fornication ' does Not always appear in translation a person can Not be immoral, a whoremonger, a cheater, un-faithful, etc. without being immoral. That is why Jesus did Not say ' adultery ' as scriptural grounds for divorce, because ' porneia ' covers more than adultery.
Porneia covers what is immoral in God's eyes as shown in the above posted Scriptures.
What is the Greek definition of Porneia.

You don't know what the writer of scripture about fornication meant. It just might mean sex for fun with anyone.
