Evangelicals Losing?

usually its what is closest at hand. to some evangelicals, they believed voting for Trump would usher the end of times; which they believe heralds the 2nd coming. unless Jesus is here and now, chances are they are going to prefer the way of what is readily available. so the options you offered are in reality, jesus coming or gun.
documentation? As a Christian... that isn't why I voted for Trump

As an outsider, I have a question. If an Evangelical was obliged to forgo either Jesus or his gun, which one would he dump?

its interesting logic to think someone is trying to catalyze an event, that would culminate in a worse case scenario vs the alternative.

waiting patiently vs inciting impatiently

the latter would be like a firefighter who is also a pyromaniac.

some people unconsciously become the thing they fear. other people realize they could become the thing they fear because they have no control over anyone's fear but their own.

Dune - by Frank Herbert

Bene Gesserit Litany against fear

I must not fear.

Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

Only I will remain.

Second coming of Christ nearer after Trump's decision on Jerusalem, claims US pastor

Donald Trump, the herald of evangelicals’ end times

How low do you believe evangelicals might wish to go to discover the depths of the abyss? How low do you believe the pharisees went to discover the depths of the self?

Revelation 2:24
Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets, ‘I will not impose any other burden on you,

LOL

And one person equals a majority!

You can find anything on the internet!

Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster - Even the church of the Spaghetti Monster!

That report does not support the position that you mentioned

Does anybody respect American evangelicals any more? They sealed their fates throwing in for Trump and Moore.
I don't think that 81% of them who voted for Trump were necessarily all that way as I know some of them personally that weren't enamored with Trump but voted for him for other reasons.

However, at this point I will have to say that if they still support Trump and Moore, they've compromised their supposed Christian faith into oblivion. No one can truly believe in what Trump has said and done and have that somehow miraculously match what Jesus said and did. At this point, it's clear that it's either one or the other.

BTW, the last poll I saw on this had Trump's approval rating with Evangelicals drop down to the 60% range, but that was taken a few months ago.

Trump does not need to energize the evangelicals again until 2020.

I would hope that they will be wiser next time so that he fails with that-- if he lasts that long.

I doubt that the 2018 Congressional elections will result in Democrats holding 2/3 of both houses. That is what it would take to oust Trump prematurely. And then what do you have - President Pence.

Are American Christian evangelicals losing their gag reflex in regards to the current political reality? does politics really make for strange bedfellows?

Matthew 23:24
You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

Opinion | The Trump evangelicals have lost their gag reflex

I am currently studying Matthew and I have hypothesized that the temptations of Jesus and the Beatitudes represent the core of his teachings and all else is derivative of this. I know this is a bold claim but I am testing it so I am open to changing my mind on it.

But in this light my first thought about how a representative of Christianity would react to this news was Jesus temptation regarding ruling over the Earth. My view is that Christian leaders who want to overlook such intentional sin have fallen to the third temptation of Satan and have done so quite publicly. If a sinner can't see his sin then how can he become clean of it?

Some Christian leaders have become too invested in worldly power and crave to align themselves with politicians.

Don't forget the vice president can serve out a full 4 years.

Do you consider Matthew 19:16-19 and Matthew 25:31-46 as derivative of the passages you mentioned? I see them in conjunction with the antitheses (Matthew 5:21-48) to be the core teachings of Jesus as presented by Matthew.

I hear ya. I think it's possible for the Dems to take the House, but it would be much harder for them to take the Senate. Even if so, it would take a 2/3 vote in the latter for him to be removed, and the Dems aren't gonna have that number.

i never stated a majority. also if a person is the leader of a congregation then he represents the flock.

"American Christian evangelicals" represents ALL evangelicals... majority is understood! otherwise it would say "ONE PASTOR SAID".

And I never said "you said it".

And representing a flock doesn't mean that the flock agrees everything that is said.
