I wouldn't describe it as losing. We should all be so lucky to find the courage needed to sacrifice ourselves so that others may live, when the time comes. That's called being a hero. They are few and far between nowadays.

Point is, he defeated his enemies by being mocked, humiliated, tortured, and killed.... It looked like defeat to his enemies.

I used to pray for my team's victory. But I was like 7 so take that for what it's worth. Although I do remember an elder laughing saying, I doubt God follows Aussie Rules Football, I'd guess more of a football (soccer) fan.

I really thought God was helping the Vikings.

His Enemies? He died for the very people that crucified Him! They might have considered Him and threat, but He did not consider them enemies.
Why do you think He said:

Luke 23:34

34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

And then on the cross to the criminals that were crucified with Him:

Luke 23:39-43

39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

But your not entirely wrong. Jesus's only enemy was Satan. So your right on that account. He did defeat Satan on that day.

What about all the supporters from the other team that were also praying for their team to win? Should God calculate the number of prayers from each side and give the victory to the ones who prayed the most or is it better that He stays out of it and let the result be established in the field, by the performance of the players?

I gather the notion....even if you pray for your very life....

I have to admit that I don't pray for stuff like that...you know, praying for things that would cause God to play favorites. I get a little obsessive about that, actually. For instance, when I'm about to begin a long drive, I ALWAYS pray for help....not that He will 'keep me safe,' (because perhaps keeping me safe would mean that someone else won't be) but that He will help me be alert, make good decisions and deal with whatever happens...and that He will help me recognize when I am being a stupid driver so that I will stop being a stupid driver.

I can't really do anything about other people being stupid.

Or the Vikings losing a game. Not that I give a hoot about whether the Vikings win or lose. I only like football on Thanksgiving because it keeps the guys out of my hair when I'm fixing dinner.

I usually don't care who wins at sports...it was stupid of me to pray for such a thing and assume God cares

God taught me a valuable lesson. The Vikings got their butt kicked worse this game than any other games all year, and this was the only game that I prayed for them to win this year. My prayers did the opposite. The lesson is bless and do not curse. I should have never cursed the Philadelphia Eagles. The other lesson is that God doesn't care about football.

(I prophesy that the Patriots will win the Superbowl. They are God's favorite team. God is patriotic. ):p

Anyway, I asked God why he let me down, and the answer he seemed to give me is that he wins by losing.

If Jesus was truly God incarnate, look at how he chose to conquer. He chose to be defeated, humiliated, rejected, disappointed, tortured, abandoned by the apostles, and murdered. He chose to win by losing.

God also wants me to be happy about them losing. Just like God wants me to be happy that Christ was crucified. God wants us to be happy about disappointments. He wants us to genuinely feel joy when we are disappointed and be happy about it.

I read a book about a guy that learned that God wanted him to praise him every time something bad happened and thank him for that bad event, and feel genuine joy about the bad thing happening. I was able to truly feel joy about the Vikings losing. By praising God for the disappointments in life, and thanking God for them, it releases God's power into the situation to bring as much good out of it as possible.

I was really looking forward to a historical game where the Vikings win the Superbowl in their hometown. Praise God they lost. Thank you Jesus. Allelujah! :)

It is good for one's Health to accept all things as if they were the best. Being miserable and disappointed over it does absolutely nothing. Being happy about it is good for the health!
