:DShould I read between those lines, in your opinion?

when a person opens their mouth to speak, not referring to anyone in particular, they are stating something they believe in. if they don't follow through in action, they are like the pharisees. some will do as i say and not as i do. some will do as they say and won't worry about what others do, until they witness their neighbor doing wrong to other as self.

Matthew 23:3
So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.

LOL 2 Timothy 2:14

I love you guys!
i like that one. paul obviously has to correct the notion of faith alone. i've read that but obviously never heard it from most christians who focus on faith and claim works won't get you into heaven. self-glorifying works won't but selfless works will. loving all as a servant and being of service to others as self will work.

I do not believe in "getting into" Heaven. I believe in making it. Genesis 1:26-28

there are rotten fruits, sure, in many case I can not know if they a rotten or not, not usable for sure. I had apples that looked good outside but were green , rotten or good. The same with some teachers: they would have many followers but one need to get some light to see their faults. So, unless I know, I assume that people potentially good but, may be , green:.

It is always very good to view a person as a potential spiritual ' brother or sister ' because that is why God asks all of us to ' repent ' (turn into good fruit - Galatians 5:22-23) if we do Not want to ' perish ' (be destroyed as a bad or rotten tree would come to a final end )

Spiritual light (Scripture) sheds light on false teachers.
I find the false teachers to be of the clergy class as found at 2 Thessalonians 2:2-8
They are the composite ' man of sin ', the ' son of perdition ' (utter destruction).
They sit themselves in the ' temple' (houses of worship) as if they are God when they are really anti-God.
So, as Jesus' forewarned about the corrupted religious leaders of his day in the 23rd chapter of Matthew, and at Matthew 15:9, then it should be of No surprise today to find corrupted religious leaders (bad trees producing bad fruit meaning bad-behaving followers). Those are past the ' green' or growing stage and have reached the rotten stage.

Jesus was always in the service to others as Luke 4:43 shows that Jesus was busy in spiritual works.
Jesus gave us the 'self-sacrificing type of love' as he and his followers would display according to John 13:34-35.
In Jesus' NEW commandment we are now to love others 'more' than love of self.
Doing the 'selfless' spiritual work of Matthew 24:14; Acts 1:8 besides cultivating God's fruit of Galatians 5:22-23.

nope, to be servant to all doesn't exclude any, not even self. the All includes self. Love is not a respecter of any person, not exclusive to any person. love is inclusive of All as self.

I am a Son of Israel who was born in atheistic country, I was an atheist because it was atheistic country, I had encounters with something that was intuition driven but I was not able to classify them , in the USA I became Christian but of fundamentalists style and I encountered Gnostic writings which my intuition told me "that it the truth", I became Gnostic. It took some 30 years.

.

Can you show us that to repent means the same as being the fruit of the spirit?

I can show you that it doesn't mean that.

Romans 2:14
Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law.

Also, no one can "turn into good fruit", but, at least it is funny!

Even an atheist can be a neighborly good Samaritan type.
Servant Paul taught us to be 'self sufficient' at Acts of the Apostles 18:3 because servant Paul supported his ministry by making tents for a living, and please notice what servant Paul stressed at 1 Thessalonians 2:9 about laboring.
At 2 Thessalonians 3:10 servant Paul said a person who is Not willing to work shouldn't eat.
At 1 Timothy 5:8 I find servant Paul stresses working to provide for one's family.
So, please could you post where servant Paul taught faith alone ( faith without works ).

Since Jesus taught that humble meek people will inherit the Earth, then why conclude only going to heaven.
King David did selfless works, yet according to Acts of the Apostles 2:34 David did Not ascend.
No one who died before Jesus died as per John 3:13 will ever go to heaven.
They can have a happy-and-healthy physical resurrection back to live life on Earth.
That is why the ' future tense ' is used at Acts of the Apostles 24:15 that there ' is going to be ' a resurrection.......
People like those mentioned at Luke 22:28-30; Revelation 20:6; 5:9-10 are the ones called to heaven.
The majority of people can be part of the humble meek who will inherit the Earth as per Psalms 37:9-11.

@URAVIP2ME People can see you not talking to me. And, really, is the Watchtower the place to get all questions answered? You are proving nicely indeed that that is not true! Aren't you?

Thank you for your reply, but I will stand on 2 Timothy 3:16-17 that it is Scripture that is inspired by God.
I find Jesus taught that it is Scripture that is religious truth at John 17:17 and Jesus based his teaching on them.
In other words, the '66' Bible books are in harmony with one another as we can see by their harmonious corresponding or parallel cross-reference verses and passages among the many Bible writers.
Whereas the apocryphal books exclude themselves from the '66' because they are out of harmony with the '66'.

i think you're a little confused on whose responsible for what. as a fruit, the fruit should be constantly producing; especially when in season and mature enough to produce. it's not the harvesters responsibility for the fruit to produce; especially if one planted and another is expected to harvest. its the plant that must produce.

i can understand when not in season and physically immature but a full grown plant is expected to produce something for the seasonal harvest.
Funny... while reading this analogy (which you stayed "in character" with throughout - never actually equating "fruit" to "human"), all I could think about is a farmer/harvester of actual plants/fruit here on Earth. Here on Earth, the plant actually creates its fruit for itself, either as the vessel and nutrients for its offspring (seeds), or to entice some roaming animal to eat and deposit the seeds elsewhere so that they avoid competition with the parent plant. The plant, therefore, has absolutely no responsibility to the farmer/harvester - indeed, it does not know nor care that he exists!

Also, the farmer/harvester on Earth has no actual control over the plants... nor whether or not they reliably produce anything. He, therefore, must remain grateful to the plants, regardless how much work he puts in. This is due to the fact that they produce for him, even as they do not even acknowledge his existence - because he can't do the work of creating fruit on his own!

Lastly, the plants do not need the farmer/harvester in order to produce. Sure, he artificially buoys their continued, comfortable survival, but the plants would grow, with or without him. Perhaps not as well, or not developing fruit as bountifully... but there would be growth, and there would be fruit. The farmer/harvester however? He very much needs the fruit of the harvest - without it he is lost come the next sparse season.

Funny thing about analogies that don't quite fit.

The reason Jesus only went to the Jews is because they were giving the first choice to follow him.
Then, the way was opened up for the Samaritans, and then followed by the gentile people of the nations.
So, ALL everywhere have the opportunity to follow Jesus. That is why the gospel of Matthew 24:14; Acts 1:8 goes out to the people of ALL nations because God is Not partial. ALL people choose whether they want to be a figurative humble 'sheep' or a haughty 'goat' type person as mentioned at Matthew 25:31-33,37,40.

Besides Timothy and the rest, Jesus also refers to the written down old Hebrew Scriptures.
Jesus explains the OT for us. Jesus often prefaced his statements with the words, " it is written......" meaning already written down on the old Hebrew Scriptures (OT).
I find at John 4:23-24 that Jesus taught we should worship in spirit and truth.
So, as a pep rally is designed to create school spirit, or we think of a high-spirited horse as being lively, then God's active spirit carried Jesus in what he needed to know from the old Hebrew Scriptures (Luke 4:15-21) including Isaiah's writings.

belief and work are not exclusive to a religion, a culture. a result has to have a cause but a cause does not necessarily have a result.
in politics they are identified as armchair politicians.
in social terms they are called armchair socialists
words without actions are just noises

I find Jesus had a cause at Luke 4:43 and the result was the start of the first-century Christian congregation.
So, Jesus' cause did have a result. The result today is that the good news of God's kingdom (Daniel 2:44) is Now proclaimed world wide just as Jesus said it would be done at Matthew 24:14. Proclaimed before the end comes of all badness on Earth before Jesus, as Prince of Peace, will usher in global Peace on Earth among persons of goodwill.
Just as Jesus was 'No armchair general', his growing followers are also No armchair followers without results.

I am afraid that not too many understand what "worship in spirit and truth" means. E.g. 10I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day (Rev.1) or 27And he came in the Spirit into the temple Luke 2 or 10But he became hungry and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance Acts 10.

we are a tree and together we are a grove, a forest. some can't see the forest for the trees.

love can produce some thing from seemingly different things. i am the sower. i am the plant. i am the harvester. we become that planted.

Psalm 1:3
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.

Jeremiah 17:8
They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Revelation 22:2
down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

returning lost sheep to the fold is a unifying work, tawheed, oneness, i am the Lord and there is no other apart from me none exist because I AM that i am.

Matthew 23:37
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

Luke 13:34
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

Revelation 10:11
Then I was told, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.”
