I hate the British!

The title of the OP is clickbait.... I don't hate the British anymore. But they really got a slap on the wrist for all the nations they conquered, all the rights they trampled upon, and the concentration camps, and war crimes. People talk about how bad Hitler was... I don't see how the British Empire was less atrocious.

Does anybody else have a least favorite Empire?

And don't forget that the Brits inflicted Lucas Electric (The Prince of Darkness) upon the world.
They invented the 3 position switch....off, on, flicker.
Limies drink warm beer cuz Lucas Electric makes the refrigerators.

The British empire wasn't the worst the world has seen.

But.... my last name is English........
and.... it is true..... we were awful!!!

My mom's great grandfather was James Malloy from County Tipperary in Ireland......
and my dad's ancestors... the Tate's from Northern Ireland were really awful to my mom's
Irish ancestors................

...... We have a lot of karmic work ahead of us to begin to make up for what we did in the past.......

https://www.globalresearch.ca/the-irish-slave-trade-the-forgotten-white-slaves/31076

From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland’s population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade. Families were ripped apart as the British did not allow Irish dads to take their wives and children with them across the Atlantic. This led to a helpless population of homeless women and children. Britain’s solution was to auction them off as well.

One of the most effective ways that we Brits are feeling guilty is to also apologize to America.... for messing up her central banking policies......... way back in 1751........

The History of Banking Control in the United States

"That is simple," Franklin replied. "In the Colonies we issue our own money. It is called Colonial Scrip. We issue it in proper proportion to make the products pass easily from the producers to the consumers. In this manner, creating ourselves our own paper money, we control its purchasing power, and we have no interest to pay to no one."

The English bankers, being informed of that, had a law passed by the British Parliament prohibiting the Colonies from issuing their own money, and ordering them to use only the gold or silver debt-money that was provided in insufficient quantity by the English bankers. The circulating medium of exchange was thus reduced by half.

"In one year," Franklin stated, "the conditions were so reversed that the era of prosperity ended, and a depression set in, to such an extent that the streets of the Colonies were filled with unemployed." (Alain Pilote)

Hate is unproductive, and it is useless to try to judge history from the point of view of the moral, philosophical and political thinking of the present.

But I put this to everybody: both capitalism (liberal market capitalism as we understand it today) and liberal democracy are essentially English developments. Not bad achievements, really.

We are capable of good when we're not trying to run the world! See!

You are not British, you are Canadian.

Just as Jews... can be American Jews..... or Canadian Jews....
so also we Gentiles can look back to our ancestry......
and learn some things that are positive... and some things that are negative.......
I believe that our admitting to the implications of our past lives can play a huge role in ushering in the Era of Moshiach........ so can simply admitting the errors of our genetic ancestors....

We all have some guilt to deal with.... and we can make improvements faster if
we simply admit it.......
Please notice.... the oil of joy.... comes AFTER a time of mourning........
what happens if we refuse to do any mourning????

Isaiah 61:3

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified."

Okay but none of this makes you a Brit. Trust me the world doesn't need any more of us.

US, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong...credit where it is due; they created some conspicuously successful colonies!

Great Britain spread mercantile economics, Hitler, USSR etc spread socialist dictatorship, two opposite things, two opposite results.

I can't argue with that.

I am British.
People in my country are well aware of the atrocities done by our ancestors (or at least, by those who ruled over our ancestors).
I don't think our empire was worse than any other - only larger, and so it affected more people.
To answer the question 'What is my least favourite empire?' I would have to say that of the USA.
It's a cultural invasion of the world: McDonalds in Moscow, Santa Clause displacing Father Christmas, US films in British cinemas (this has corrupted British English so much that many of our children now say 'Zee' instead of Zed' and don't know how to spell 'Colour' or 'Centre').
It's an insidious occupation of ancient cultures.
