A Christian's Highest Priority?

!Fluffy!

Lacking Common Sense
A Christian's highest priority -- What is it? Prayer, to love God, reading scripture, to worship God, ministering to those in need, sharing the gospel.

Christians, what do you think God would say, and why?

The greatest command will always be to love God and to love other people. We do this by providing for the needs of others.

if we love God, we would talk to him in prayer, we would read his letter the bible , and act on what it tells us to do, so then we would be putting into practice the other things mentioned, so loving God means that we would be loving our neighbour also.

The most important thing to a Christian should be the same as what is the most important thing to God. God's #1 priority has always been to glorify Himself, so we should seek to glorify Him above all else.

God bless.

Matthew 25:37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' 40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' NIV

John 21:15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?"
"Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."

According to Jesus, the greatest commandment is to "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength."
I therefor think that loving God is the highest priority.

Just in case you were wondering, this is what is meant my "love" in the Bible:

"Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. The commandments, 'You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,' and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." (Romans 13:8-10)

"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us." (1 John 4:7-12)

In my opinion, a Christian's highest priority should be to try to make the world a little bit better for their fellow man. But we should all be trying to do that whatever faith we espouse.

Exactly what I was going to post (though I wouldn't have used the NIV).

I think Love, Peace, Patience, Joy, Long Suffering, and all the fruit's of the spirt is very important. However, I personally think getting the word out about Christ is the highest priority. That was what Paul did and is what I think we should emulate.

Romans 15:15 I have written you quite boldly on some points, as if to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me 16to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles with the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said to his followers before ascending into heaven:

bible said:
Mark 16:15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

"Hear what our Lord Jesus Christ saith: 'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. on these two commandments hang all the Law and the prophets.'"
