The Implication of God Sparing Some People From Death

"Woman who survived crash on SR-18: 'I definitely believe that God spared my life'"

NEAR TIGER MOUNTAIN, Wash. -- Washington State Patrol troopers now believe a part from a semi truck led to a crash on state Route 18 on Wednesday afternoon that killed one woman and sent another woman to the hospital.

"I saw a lady coming from… going east… right into my lane," Brenda Hoyt said. "I mean I had no time to react. Nothing. It just… we hit right then."

She was on her way home when a blue Ford Focus came right toward her from the opposite direction.

"And there’s no where I could go," Hoyt said. "I couldn’t stop. I tried. but I couldn’t stop."

State troopers said the woman driving the Ford Focus had just hit a driveline out in the road. It’s a part that runs from the power source of an engine to the back axle, troopers said.

It caused her car to spin out of control into the westbound lane right into Hoyt’s path.

Sadly, the woman did not survive.

Hoyt suffered a broken ankle, has a sore back, and injured her left knee.

"I think it’s just… I’m very lucky," Hoyt said. "I definitely believe that God spared my life."

Now, doesn't such belief, that god interceded on Hoyt's behalf, logically imply that god deliberately killed the other woman? And wouldn't this belief apply in all such situations, as in airplane crashes where some survive, but others don't?

The reason I cringe when I hear someone say 'but for the grace of God, there go I.' It falsely assumes that the 'other' is not in God's grace. And then there's the likes of judge Moore and his ilk who blame 9-11 on homosexuals.

Yes, and as my father(a very religious person) has said. It was the dead woman's time and she now gets to enjoy the fruits of heaven, God has work for the other woman to finish before she joins in the fruits of heaven.

In the meantime, to do so he saw fit to leave Hoyt with a broken ankle, an injured left knee, and a sore back. Nice guy. Couldn't have just had a hired gun shoot her to death. Nope! He had to injure someone else in order to kill her.

Or you could just say the Lord killed the one woman but not the other yet. Everybody is going to die then the Lord will raise them from the dead.

1 Samuel 2:6
"The LORD brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up.

My father also say's God works in mysterious ways and You can never know what God has planned for you. He would point out many people from the books he reads that only did great things after they were injured or harmed in some way. Most of the prophets had pretty bad lives.

This makes the wild assumption that they would not have done great things had they not been injured. In short, it's begging the question.

Most of the prophets had pretty bad lives.
Gee, were the prophets the only ones who had bad lives, or were there other poor souls who had bad lives and that's all they had? No need to answer.

Here is my answer. If God exists, this world is just a testing ground for placement in the next, the sooner you leave provided you pass the test the better for you. Anything negative or positive that happens to you which allows you to pass the test is for your benefit. If god doesn't exist then the OP's question is moot.

And for those who fail the test, "Hello Hell"?

2 Thessalonians 1:9
9 They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,

That is the view of only some religions. Like you I am agnostic unlike you I view all religions as interpretations of Gods words by man being that man is finite in this life the interpretations of an infinite god are going to be flawed. If God exists the ability to pass the test comes from within you not from without.

I am not even sure I understand the reason for the question. It is not as if the Bible provides an answer to this. In it we are told that random chance and happenstance happens to us all. So sheet happens. If then the woman who survived here thinks God helped her survive, that is her right. As we are told all good things come from above, and it was a good thing for her.

In my own life, one time I received protection. I was on a bicycle in the city standing at the curb waiting for the red light to change when I got the urge to move away from there. I had just moved when a very large military truck with trailer plowed into a car just a short distance from where I was standing. If I hadn't moved, I could have been in danger. Why did I get the urge to move just then? Afterwards, I gave thanks. Do I have evidence for God making me move?! No. Still, I gave thanks for getting me out of the danger zone. I had no reason at all to move since I was just standing and peacefully waiting for the light to change.

We also know that God protects to some degree the righteous, if the other person was wicked, she would receive no protection. (Just giving you the various possibilities, not saying the other was wicked.)
Ecclesiastes 9:12 For man also does not know his time. Just like fishes that are being taken in an evil net, and like birds that are being taken in a trap, so the sons of men themselves are being ensnared at a calamitous time, when it falls upon them suddenly.

That is probably the most non-judgmental way of saying it. It is most likely not true, but sounds good. There are some cases where it is true that a person may not be permitted to die yet, but they are probably rare. Both Jesus and John were protected until it was their time to die. The dead do not go to heaven. Please remember this:
John 6:
54 He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood has life eternal, and I will raise him up at the last day:
John 11:24 Martha says to him, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection in the last day .
Jesus was a special case.
