Was Jesus trying to gather more Christs in his disciples and followers?

What heresy are you proposing?

jesus was considered a heretic

he made them equals by calling them friend.

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

with Love all things are possible.

It depends.

First how are you defining a "Christ"??

By the original biblical definition more than just Jesus bore that title, so if that's what you are going with, possibly.

If Jesus was Christ and he was trying to regenerate those like him, was he attempting to bring to Light those that were in darkness.

2 Corinthians 4:4
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

2 Samuel 22:29
You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.

Job 30:26
Yet when I hoped for good, evil came; when I looked for light, then came darkness.

Isaiah 9:2
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.

So, by the way you are defining "Christ", then your answer is yes.

isn't a teacher's calling to bring others to that same state of awareness, mind, as the teacher's?

and isn't a student's/follower's job to become like the teacher?

Would that then mean Christian are worshiping themselves? Or at least that which they are supposed to become?

what they become is realized from within. it can't be realized without, or outside, of self and is intrinsic to all as the All is a circle who circumference is no where and whose center is everywhere.

colossians 3:11
exodus 3:14
