What was it like to experience God's presence?

By experience, I'm referring to the emotional aspect of being immersed in feeling that God was with you, and what I mean by that is the semi-incomprehensible feeling that "wow I feel an overwhelming goodness." Whether it is from prayer or coming from services or even at services what was the psychological experience, I'm curious what it felt like when others experience it.

Definition: By "God" I'm referring of course to that of the Abrahamic faiths but I like to extend that definition as the God or Creator of all of existence.

The "spiritual experience" (other's peoples words, not mine) left me the very deep "I really just do not know" agnostic I am. Spirit, god, universal conscious, mind trickery? I just do not know. I'm a human caught between past and present. I'm infinitesimally small, and compression of anything too far outside of my limited senses is just not going to happen.

I've written several poems seeking to capture an experience in the net of works. They are all different because what happened inside is different. This is one:

Tonight

The sun rose tonight.
Gentle breezes blew tonight.
Spring came tonight

Sun showers wet my cheeks tonight.
My armor came off tonight.
My petaled heart opened wide tonight.

Joy was dancing the ecstasy
of sunlight tonight.

Divine perfume filled
the room tonight.

Sun fire set the room
ablaze tonight.

---

Clouds rolled in tonight.

Clammy fog embraced me
tonight.

Soaring amongst stars
ended with a fall
tonight.

But tonight the sun's grace
rekindled a candle.

The candle which
resides on my alter
every night.

I don't know about the Abrahamic God how it's different since people like to separate it from other experiences. The stepping into the river and the river flowing inside you is something some like to call God. It feels "good" and is open to everyone regardless of belief. But like the experience of sex, describing isn't the easiest.

I don't know if it was an experience or not. But when I meditate on my chosen deity there is a sense of overwhelming I dunno, relief? A rush of endorphins. A sweeping sense of just bliss. The logical side of me says that this is merely a taught chemical reaction. Something I expect to happen based on what I was taught to believe. In saying that it doesn't happen with any other form I grew up with. Or at least not nearly as strong, since there are "niceties" there as well.

But part of me, the more emotional side of me, feels like there is something there. Something powerful. Something visceral. God? Consciousness? Energy?

My two sides of the brain are constantly bickering I guess.

i cant explane my feeling easily.
but its extremely great when i believe:
God is infinite merciful, see me, know my prayers, accepts them, supports me, helps me, protect me and the feeling of extreme tranquillity it provides for me.
God bless you.
