Why Christians Shouldn't Celebrate Halloween!!!

Setting aside a day to celebrate evil, darkness, witchcraft, fear, death and the demonic brings disdain to God. Period. A Christian celebrating Halloween would be like a Satan worshiper putting up a nativity scene at Christmas while singing, "Happy Birthday, Jesus!" The two just don't go together. Jesus has nothing in common with Satan (2 Cor. 6:14), and neither should we.

So stop justifying why it is fine to celebrate this demonic, worldly, evil holiday. There are no muddled lines or gray areas about it. A committed follower of Jesus Christ should not celebrate Halloween.

So, what's it to be, Halloween or not?

.

I remember it was fun to go trick-or-treating when I was a kid, but after a while, the fascination wears off. Nowadays, I see teenagers out there trick-or-treating. That's kind of silly.

I have nothing against Halloween, but some people go all out for it - as if they've been looking forward to it all year.

I think the candy companies must really do well this time of year. It's another "candy holiday," just like Christmas, Easter, and Valentine's Day.

If they gave out celery and carrot sticks instead of candy on Halloween, I'll bet fewer kids would go trick-or-treating.

You sure are a thread loaded machine gun, aren't you.

However in this case I agree with you. I remember the church I was raised in celebrating Halloween, and most people dressed up as some evil creature or something similar. Even in my pre-teens that seemed absolutely contradictory. My position would be that no Church should have any events corresponding to Halloween, but what people do in their neighborhood or homes would be between them and God.

That's easy, if you demand to know why any Christian is celebrating Halloween, all they have to answer is:-
'Because I want to'.
They don't need to tell you a single thing more.
Hey, they don't even have to read the OP if they don't want to.

Not so sure. My favourite part was the costumes.

That's a new one for me.
When I was growing up, the neighborhood and schools had a good Christian/Jewish mix and we did not want to miss out on having a celebration and getting goodies. So the "bush" along with some cash "gelt" was a feature of many homes.

It is 'or not'.
Each does as s/he wants. God also. Thus if we are disobedient, we shall reap the consequences according to our works. That is the promise. The obedient of course gains from that.

Well it's more of a thing that people just do. Since it has been practised for centuries. I'm sure that people who do celebrate really don't know the history of it, nor cares about it. And is just doing it for the kids sake.

It orginated from the ancient celitc festival that had paganity in it. But then there are some that believe that it is a christian thing to do. In my opinion, it really does not fit in category of holiness. But why tar everyone with the same brush ?

Apart from getting an egg raid on your house if you are Jehovah Witness, I don't have any objections to Christians celebrating Halloween if you look at it from a historical context:

Halloween comes from Samhain and Samhain comes from the Harvest.
The Harvest is where all your crops are about to die so in Samhain they felt the veil was thin between the spirits and people. They also used this to connect to their pagan Gods.

Halloween is an American Samhain. Obviously they don't worship pagan Gods in it. With the exception of maybe Gandalf costumes that part is eliminated. Christians already believe in spirits of the dead.

That is all there is to it: I see nothing wrong with Christians celebrating Halloween.

I have to say, being a Witness for many years, I've never had my house vandalized at Halloween. I've had good neighbors, and have tried to be one myself (and family). And yes, most - if not all, word gets around - know that we're Jehovah's Witnesses.

Of course, we have a propensity to tell people!

So long.
