Jehovah's Witnesses Knocked on My Door

For me, my treatment of JW's, live, in the flesh, is pretty much a mood thing. Sometimes, I'll entertain their primitive thinking other times I'll practically turn the Rotties on them.

* screams... "Release the hounds!" *
(It's always a bit surprising how fast the old folks can run back down my long driveway.)

More often than not, I'll just toy with them until they realize they are wasting their time. Oddly, it doens't normally take too long.

In regards to the OP, one cannot expect too much from a door to door salesperson religion. Most of the time I start laughing simply reading the cover, then my bizarre sense of humor takes over and well... things go downhill rapidly from there.
Probably they run because some people really mean it. I've little love lost for JWs based on my experience growing up with them, but I have a scar on my left arm from a dog released on me when I was 9 when he saw us coming up the driveway.

"To survive, we need clean water, food, clothing, and shelter from the weather." 1 Timothy 6:7, 8. The bible says "...with food, clothing, we shall be content.

"I am comforted by my belief that God will soon bring complete justice to the earth and will right all wrongs. In the meantime, I cherish each day of life and do what I reasonably can to do preserve it." Revelation 21:4, 5. This is JW interpretation and not close to being word for word.

Philippians 2:4 "Look out not only for your own interests, but also for the interests of others." This one is very close to the original.

The nations whom Israel defeated were thoroughly corrupted by violence and depraved practices-including beastiality, incest, and child sacrifice. After giving them centuries to change their ways, God said: "It is by all these things that the nations that I am driving out from before you have made themselves unclean." Leviticus 18:21-25

"Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you, so that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens." Matthew 5:44, 45, this quote is very close.

Even when the nation in which they live goes to war, Christians should remain neutral, "no part of the world." John 15:19, only the "no part of the world" is from John 15:19.

"My kindgom is no part of this world. If my Kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be handd over to the Jews. But as it is, my Kingdom is not from this source." John 18:36

You cannot purposely change biblical text, even if it is wrong. You can interpret it however you wish or disagree with it but you cannot change it and then tell others that it says what you want it to say.

Micah 4:3, this quote is word for word correct.

"because the earth will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters cover the sea." Isaiah 11:9. This quote is close but they substituted the word Jehovah in place of the word Lord.

"Physical training is beneficial for a little," 1 Timothy 4:8. "But the scriptures also caution you to "live with soundness of mind." Titus 2:12, the initial sentence makes it sound as if intense exercise is against the bible, which is not what the writer was trying to say. The correct interpretation of this complete biblical quote is that exercise is fine but God is forever.

"The shrewd person acts with knowledge, but the fool exposes his own foolishness." Proverbs 13:16. This is close to the original.

Before you consider engaging in a certain activity, get to know the risks involved. Ask yourself, "Does this activity amount to little more than a gamble with death or serious injury?" Proverbs 14:15. This posted quote is JW interpretation of the bible but given a biblical reference.

"Good and stable friends helped me to make better choices about activities I wanted to participate in. When my friends changed, so did my life." Proverbs 13:20. This is somewhat changed from the bible.

Rather than take needless risks by thrill seeking, show good judgement with regard to your choice of recreation. Proverbs 15:24. This is JW interpretation of the bible.

"The shrewd one ponders each step." Proverbs 14:15. They substituted the word shrewd where the bible says prudent.

I can, because it's a fact. It's called denominations within christianity.

No single denomination can agree on a single interpretation, which is why Christianity has split into denominations. Each "thinks" it alone has the correct interpretation, which is the overall problem of religion.

Sure. denominations is the pc term for factions or splinter groups. What is the chance that they are all correct?

I mean.. you realize there's more than one bible translation right? Proverbs 14:15
Sensible, shrewd and prudent all come up as well as a few other words.

All English bibles are interpretations to some degree.
Their interpretation is different to yours. You think theirs is wrong, fair enough. Even assuming theirs is completely wrong doesn't make them liars, though.

Interpreting is one thing, changing the meaning and putting in your meanings and then giving a biblical reference to your newly changed biblical quote is lying. People are lazy, not everyone checks this stuff, they go with what they want to be true.

Who is more at fault, the naive person who wants to believe what they are told or the ones who purposely change something just to have current relevance and to get more followers?

I'm sorry to hear about that @ADigitalArtist
My guess is that that isn't an unusual occurrence for strangers wandering into people's yards unannounced.

Maybe it's just because of my experience but I just would rather say 'no thanks, please put me on your do not call list' then go straight for inflicting damage. Lol.

This is Revelation 21:5 from the New World Translation used by Jehovah's Witnesses -
And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new.” Also he says: “Write, for these words are faithful* and true.”

The same verse from the KJV - And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

The same verse from the Holman Christian Standard Bible - Then the One seated on the throne said, "Look! I am making everything new." He also said, "Write, because these words are faithful and true."

I certainly can't vouch for any of these. I don't read Greek. I know I wouldn't use the KJV for a translation of Hebrew scripture, but maybe the translation of the Greek is better. I could cut and paste other translations and there would be differences in language choice. But to my non-Christian eye, these three - as well as the others I did not include - appear to be saying the same thing.

What am I missing?

I know you really like conspiracies but not everything with new and world on the same sentence is connected lol.
New World on this sense is referring to that JWs believe Earth will be renewed to it's original garden of Eden state. They look to a 'new world.'

The bible does say there will be a new Heaven and new Earth. No where does it say the whole earth was the garden of Eden. How can the JW organization be so consistently wrong without being part of the grand anti-christian conspiracy?

Didn't say was, said will be. As in, they believe after judgement day those remaining on Earth will restore it to Eden like state. As for grand anti-chrostian conspiracies...well, you seem to find one in anything so...

No problem. The biggest differences is JWs take an anti-trinitarian stance so scripture commonly associated with trinity beliefs are the biggest difference betweenthe NWT and other English translations. Especially John 1:1, the most hotly debated example.

It appears to me that they changed it because they didn't like what it said. That's sad.

Then everyone must go back to Hebrew, and Greek at the very least.
