Can God help me discover my true purpose in life or is it something I must figure out on my own?

I live by the phrase "Temet nosce" which is Latin for "Know thyself."

That said, in my opinion, only you have the true answer to that question.

You were created to worship GOD alone, which means thank Him regularly for your blessings, health, home, family etc and turn to him when you need help, are down, struggling etc

Your general purpose in life is to be a good person, good to your parents, family, neighbours and mankind in general. Your conduct and actions should make non believers interested in knowing more about your views on purpose of life, and hopefully become believers in God too.

That is a worthy goal.

You were created inside your mother's womb when your father inseminated her nine months before your birth. There is no purpose in life, to have a purpose is to have an Ego.

Live life without purpose and do what feels natural.

For me, the statement of the "Two greatest commandments" in the Bible is true no matter what religion one follows. To me, that's everyone's true purpose in life is to do one's best to try to live those principles (knowing that we all stumble and fall just like children stumble and fall when they're learning).

No. No.

I dont know god and dont know who you are, so most of us cant speak for you nor can they speak for god.

How do you define purpose.
What do you mean by god.
How do you define yourself.

Ideas to ask yourself hence why the period.

Religions are human-made, each with unique gods and goddesses, so you are in fact following human ideals and goals that originated within your immediate culture in the past. A religion is a cultural phenomena. I think that we get just one shot at life, from the union of our parents sperm and egg, until we ultimately die and return to elements, to electrons and protons in the universe. A conservation of matter, so to speak. Ultimately we must live with ourselves and do what we think and feel right about and most comfortable with. Follow your mind and heart together......

^^What he said. If you turn to a god, ultimately any god of any religion is represented my humans (men, for the most part), and it is not your purpose or even a hypothetical god's purpose, but the purpose of some man who wrote some book thousands of years ago.

Lots of people feel they have purpose in life, or meaning in life, with or without religious affiliation.
Besides purpose and meaning Jesus' teachings gives us real ' hope '. Bright hope for a forever future.
We can figure this out through the pages of Scripture (Psalms 1109:105), through prayer (Luke 11:13 B), and through good association. Jesus gave us a clue at John 13:34-35 to have the same self-sacrificing love for others as he has.

Even if a person thinks Jesus' teachings are human-made I find there is truth in Jesus' words found at Matthew 12:34-37 that out of the heart's abundance the mouth speaks. If one's heart is Not full of good things then wrong can come out. I suppose that is why there is wisdom found in the words at Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart is treacherous.
Before we do something our imperfect heart is like a traitor within us that urges us to do it, then afterwards it gives us all the reasons why we should have Not done what we did in the first place.
That seem to fit the old adage of don't let your heart rule your head (brain).

... and I find Jesus added a NEW commandment found at John 13:34-35 to have the same self-sacrificing love for others as he has. In other words, we are Now to love others ' more ' than self.

.

I am wondering what ' ego ' Jesus could have had in doing his purpose of Luke 4:43 to let others know that God's kingdom government of Daniel 2:44 is the solution for mankind's distresses.
Philippians 2:2-4 says we are to do nothing out of egotism. Doing nothing out of ego can be purposeful.

I highly doubt that was the purpose of Jesus, but whatever his intended goals where, they are lost in distortion.

Either way is a problem

God's help is a paradox, because of so many different world views of how God helps, the different views are justified based on one's own view of God, and the results are determined by one's own world view of God. Kind of terribly circular.

On your own? This would probably result in the above scenario. No, understanding the world and a more open search for the universal may lead to a better understanding of God.

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
i don't think any other person can rightfully decide another person's purpose.

I do think everyone is meant to create life in the world. and we are all free to discover for ourselves how to do it.

I would hope one day that all of humanity will have common ground, and that evil would be greatly diminished. but I get the feeling life will always have to contend with evil. So that makes it a challenge to find purpose vs. battling to survive humanity.
