I tryed to ask this on another thread, but no one would answer. Most people agreed that, to be Christian, you have to believe in the Athanasian Creed, Nicene Creed, and the Apostles Creed. Since members of the LDS Church don't believe this, they say we're not Christian. That's crap, but besides the point. I was reading the Athanasian Creed, and it said that you have to be Catholic to be saved. The thing that got me was that protestants were telling me I had to believe in this creed, even though they weren't Catholic, and by the Creed's standard, lost forever. So, my question is, am I going to Hell because I'm not Catholic?

People don't go to Hell bec.they don't follow the"true" religion but bec.they are ungrateful to the One who honoured them and created every thing for their own sake:GOD

In my personal opinion I believe that the differences in denominations within the Christian faith are not a big concern to God. I believe that as long as the basics are the same then the other minor details (such as sprinkling baptism vs immersion and ect.) are not as important. That's not to say that they aren't important at all but I think God will judge based on the big picture, because he is a fair, just, and merciful God. I think that he will not be as concerned with some things as with others simply because some things can't be controlled. I don't think God is going to punish me because of a tiny detail because I was raised in a Church of Christ and not in a Baptist church (this is simply an example). I have struggled with this issue within myself as well as within my church simply because they like to so we are right and no one else is, and I find that incomprehensible and unfair. Plus, I don't have the right or the knowledge to say for a fact what is correct and what is incorrect when it comes to how different people interpret different scripture, as long as they have the general and basic laws and rules needed then what is the big problem?

Where does the Bible tell us that people go to hell for being "ungrateful to the One who honoured them and created every thing for their own sake:GOD"?

First of all, we are not saved by putting our faith in a creed, we are saved by God's grace and faith in Christ for what He did for us in His death and resurrection. Our faith rest with Christ for our salvation and nothing else.

That's true.

Jesus Christ saved us all. Our goal isn't to avoid hell; rather, it's to get as close to God as we can.

Let us be united by this hope: that if God exists that God is good, merciful, loving, and just.

If not, then we are all in the same boat anyway. Either way, we should be nice to one another while we are here together.

This is the Athanasian Creed.

No, you're not going to hell. Nobody is.

The OP is endemic of "pop" religion. Too many people concern themselves waaaay too much about the afterlife, instead of concentrating on this life. Christ didn't ask us to jockey for postion at the heavenly banquet. Our tickets and our place cards are already ready for us at the door. Christ asked us to be faithful to the grace we have already received, as we go about our daily, earthly life.

Some of us unquestionably deserve it. I hope and pray for divine judgment for those among us that do not face sufficient judgment in this world.

It's been said that all sins are finite and do not deserve infinate punishment, but that assumes that human beings are of finite worth. There are some people among us that have killed hundreds of thousands of human beings, and have made the lives of others absolutely miserable.

I hope that they have to answer to someone in the next life.

I believe that if you are ignorant of the Truth and through no fault of your own, and try to live a moral life then you MIGHT get into Heaven. Its Gods choice in the end, since he is the perfect judge

Thanks for the explanation! something I have been meaning to ask for a while......must get myself a notebook.

No one is going to hell; there is no hell (until I find myself there, if I do). The idea that a good person, with a love of fellow man, with a clean conscience should go to hell just because he hasn't got a religious label on the back of his head is the most absurd idea (IMO).

My friend, The apostle Paul had a clean conscience for along time while he killed and tortured christians. He came to realize in (Acts 23:1) that he thought he was doing good all along while he was persecuting the church of our Lord.He repented and obeyed the gospel in (Acts 22:16). but if he had continued to follow his conscience without repenting and obeying the gospel he might have ended up in this hell you say does not exist. The consience is not a good guide to follow,UNLESS it has all the correct information. If our conclusion is based on the truth instead of opinion we can make an educated decision. The bible says there is a way which seems right unto a man,but the end thereof is death (Proverbs 14:12). Jesus said he is truth
(John 14:6). Let us base our decisions upon the word of God.

I know many people who do terrible things to others but have a clean conscience. The conscience cannot be trusted according to the bible.Man has a tendancy to look upon his wrongs as small indiscretions, but all the while thinking others are involved in bad sins.

In our mind it is possible we have a particular understanding of what we THINK a good person should be.We also have our understanding of what love is in our mind. The problem might be that our perception and the word of God may not be the same. We are going to be judged by the word of God not our perception of love or a good person (John 12:48). If our thoughts and the word of God do not harmonize, according to the bible we will end up in that place called hell. Many people have judged thenselves unworthy of eternal life by rejecting the word of God
(Acts 13:46)(John 12:48).

Naaman the lepor in (2 Kings 5) thought the prophet would come out and do some kind of miracle in front of all the people. Instead the prophet told Naaman to go dip in the river Jordan seven times. Naaman got upset about that. He thought that river was to muddy.Naamans problem was he was full of pride and did not have the right attitude.Naaman wanted to be saved in a Burger King style,he wanted it HIS WAY. That is pride speaking loud and clear.

Pride did not help the Pharoah of Egypt one bit when Moses approached him with the word of God. We think we have it all figured our until we look into the word of God.Then it is that we find out God did not do things like man would have done things. God said my ways are not your ways, your thoughts are not my thoughts (Isaiah 55:8,9). Grace instructs us according to (Titus 2:11,12). Surely we all want to be within the grace of our Lord. The only way we can do that is to look into the word of God with an open mind and be wlling to change into the same spirit Jesus had according to (2 Cor.3:18).

If no one is going to hell please explain to me (Matt. 7:13,14)? The wide passage leads to hell. According to God most people will go to hell because of the choices they made. in love Baerly

The only thing you have to believe in order to get to heaven is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth to die for sin, and that three days later, He rose from the dead, conquering death. He will return someday to take His believers home.

Would you pease show me where it says that in the bible? I have not read that yet.---Baerly
