here is my own theory on the word Phoenicia and it as to do with the Phoenician letter Qoph became two Greek letters, Qoppa and Phi .
קַיִן QIN
קֵינִי QINI > φοινί ( Phoini )
קְנִזִּי QNZI > φοινίκων ( Phoinikon )
The evidence i have for this is Job 29:18
εἶπα δέ ἡ ἡλικία μου γηράσει ὥσπερ στέλεχος φοίνικος πολὺν χρόνον βιώσω
φοίνικος in the Hebrew text is 'קִנִּי ' (Qeni ) > φοίνι
Qeni is used in a parable describing Kenites in Numbers 24:21, the Greek writes it as νοσσιάν ( Nossian ) and a similar parable occurs in Jeremiah 22:23
'Λιβάνῳ ἐννοσσεύουσα ἐν ταῖς κέδροις
O Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars
φοῖνιξ ( Pheonix ) is also a long-lived bird of regeneration '
'ni-ke' /νίκη meaning 'for ever or prevail '
nasiy' ( נָשִׂיא ) means Mist/Vapour, νίφα ' Snow and φ > קִ ' Nika / νίκη , Hebrew נַחַל 'winter torrents'
and νεφέλας ( Cloud) and נָפַח ' Breath '.
What does it have to do with Lebanon , is named for it's white-capped mountains , the snow makes its nest on the rocks , they melt in the spring-summer and regenerate in the autumn-winter . That is my origin of the Phoenix.
χῖον means Snow , as a locative noun χῖονὼν that is כְּנַעַן ( Canaan )
and χῖον through dialects became φοῖν ( Phoenix ) ' φ > קִ '
Cain, Kenite , Kenaz, Canaan , Phoenica and Ashkĕnaz are cognitive.
note ' אַשְׁכְּנַז also written אַשְׁפְּנַז ( Dn 1:3)
Ασχαναζ >Ασφανεζ ( e.g χῖον > φοῖν )
