Lusting after him or her in your heart

Hi. I'm new here. My first post I wanted to discuss the subject of something that seems taboo to talk about : - pornography. The Messiah constantly referred to the generation he was apart of as an 'adulterous generation' but I would venture to say that the generation we are living in is far worst thanks to the rise of pornography especially through the internet and telivision. So I have a question. Why do so few predominantly Chr-stian countries do *nothing* about it? And I'm not just referring to porn sites, I'm referring to any site which harbors content of a sexualised nature. Matthew 5:28 and Romans 13:14 clearly forbids us to watch these things and it seems clear to me that unless we as a nation can turn away from this epidemic, we as a nation will be judged for it.

I was reading Ezekiel 7 - 17 today and it was heart rending, especially Ezekiel 16:30. We as human beings are permitted to lust after none other but our spouses. If we have fallen short, then surely we must repent.

I think it largely depends on how one defines "lusting". Sexual attractions are normal and acceptable, imo, but scheming to have sex with your neighbor's wife is not.

I think there will be much nudity in heaven. Adam and Eve were "naked without shame".

There is a reason God made us so interested in sex. It's a good thing. The human body is a temple that contains beauty that is to be admired and give glory to the creator.

I don't think any Government should be a Theocracy that outlaws pornography. Though I do think porn addiction is quite unhealthy and can lead to harming others.

Meaning, if the Government outlaws porn, that is simply giving the government too much power. Look at countries like North Korea and Saudi Arabia where porn is illegal. Governments become dangerous when given that power!

  1. The US is not a Christian country and is not bound by the Bible or any other religious document.
  2. Pornography and the definition of obscenity have made their rounds through the US Supreme Court. As Justice Potter Stewart said "I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced within that shorthand description ["hard-core pornography"], and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. Can you explain how a person who is single how can they commit adultery?

You know this only pertain's to people who are married.
If a single guy looks upon a woman to lust to have her as his wife or a woman who lust to have a man as her husband. There's nothing wrong in that.
How else are people to come together, if they do not have a certain lust for the other person, that they would want to be married to.
I suppose you just walk around and not look at women, I will say you will have a certain lust to want to be with her as a boyfriend and girlfriend.
Otherwise how are people to come together.
I myself has gone through that period of my life. Wanting to be with a girl and have dreams about her, wanting her to be my girlfriend and I be her boyfriend.

So there is a certain amount of lust that comes into play. Between a man and a woman. To be with each other.
Some will call it a deep emotional love.
Some will call it a deep attraction for the other.
But it all comes down to a deep lust for one another.

Hi Faithofchristian. Yes, I think with single people the issue is mainly fornication which is also forbidden (i.e. 1 Corinthians 6:18). And yes, for two people to be joined together in matrimony there is going to be a certain level of attraction prior to marriage. The lust I am referring to is that especially through pornography.

The governments of nations do try to control it. However, nations are run based on majority opinion, not the word of God.

Because such countries are typically modern, developed, freedom loving, secular democracies, rather than 3rd world, tyrannical theocracies.

I thought god judged individuals. So if you have a country where 51% are unsaved sinners, and 49% are saved adherents, does that mean the whole country is going to hell, including the otherwise saved ones?

The solution is simple; if you find porn abhorrent, avoid it. Why are religious folk so adamant about meddling in the personal, private lives of others who might not even share their beliefs?
