Baha'i
I say that op statement on behalf of God......a lot
I also say it in reference to Adam
Just this early morning, I popped it to a co worker
and he seems to think Adam was the first man......in the altogether
made of dust
I said.....that doesn't make him unique.....YOU are made of dust
and he didn't really get it ( I could tell)

so.....what do you believe?

I didn't take the poll because the option I would have approved of wasn't there.

Baha'is believe there were Prophets before Adam..

And now regarding thy question, "How is it that no records are to be found concerning the Prophets that have preceded Adam, the Father of Mankind, or of the kings that lived in the days of those Prophets?"

Know thou that the absence of any reference to them is no proof that they did not actually exist. That no records concerning them are now available, should be attributed to their extreme remoteness, as well as to the vast changes which the earth hath undergone since their time.
Moreover such forms and modes of writing as are now current amongst men were unknown to the generations that were before Adam. There was even a time when men were wholly ignorant of the art of writing, and had adopted a system entirely different from the one which they now use. For a proper exposition of this an elaborate explanation would be required.

Per narrative, 'Adam', was the first man.

This is not too difficult to believe, what are your problems with it?
How is it not difficult to believe, when it presumes such an unlikely character as a creator god that is also suspect in goals, character and behavior, besides also being at odds with actual biological knowledge?

Whether that is true or not (which is extremely questionable), why do you think it had to be Adam as described in the Bible?
Seems to me it is a "Adam of the gap" solution.

Boldly declare there had to be a first.
Act as though that bold empty claim is irrefutable fact.
Then just fill the gap created by the bold empty claim with whatever you like.
Then declare anyone who disagrees is in denial.
Hop on the merry-go-round and enjoy the ride.

Then you should read the bible again :)
Chavvah is made from adam, and there is, as far as we know, only one species of human. Therefore, all the genetic information of mankind, was contained in Adam.
The question of whether you like the creator, the biblical deity, or not, is not the thread premise.

Adam was not the first man that was made from the dust of the earth and of flesh and blood. Go read Genesis chapter 1 & 2 again?

that choice is under.....CHOSEN son of God
I believe Man as a species....Day Six......evolution

Day Seven.....nothing more will be created......it's done

THEN Chapter Two

The first male and female were created on the six day.Gen 1:26-31.
And then God rested on the seventh day, Gen 2:1-2.
Then after God had rested on the seventh day, then on the day following, God created another male from the dust of the earth.
Gen 2:7.

I've asked you several times now, and you haven't provided any reasoning. I'll ask again. Why do you think that God said "let there be light"?

To answer your question, Why God said "Let there be light"
Well from what we can read, this light was not the light from the sun, for the sun nor moon were not created until the fourth day
Gen 1:14-19.
So The question is?

Why did God say "Let there be light"

This Light comes from God, Himself.
"In him was life, and the life was the light of men, And the light shine in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.

You see back in Genesis 1:3-4, when God said "Let there be light" This light only comes from God Himself. That shine in the darkness, before the sun or moon was created.
Now the question is. What is this Light and what is this darkness ?

If only that had any resemblance to anything factual.

I don't see an option for me: the first of whenever Hebrews started counting ancestors.
I've seen a list.....new testament
records going back to Adam

The list is all fine and good if you need one

but I don't see the need of list....to say someone had to be first

Adam/Eve is a symbolic representation of a state of mental development. At a certain state of evolution the concepts of good/evil right/wrong are not part of awareness let alone debate. As brains evolved, brains could contemplate virtue and vice and start forming systems of what is good and what is bad.

The story is thus to me symbolic of evolution and not about a "magic wand "being waved around.
ok...but I see the account as explanation for the divergence of Man from the item running loose on Day Six

You didn't answer my question either. Is the only reason why you think God said "let there be light" is because the author of Genesis made the claim that God said it? If so, why does that claim convince you?
