Does anyone know the significance of glowing balls of light in shamanic journeying?

I've never had that happen.
At any rate, I'm sure various traditions that practice journeywork would interpret events that happen within the otherworlds differently. What do you feel the significance was?

I really have no idea beyond a very strong feeling that it is meaningful.

I have just finished a course which included an intro to shamanic journeying. My experience was very successful.
I arrived in a landscape which resembled a slightly out of focus valley. In contrast there were sharply defined woods on my left and right.

In my early childhood I once had a disturbing dream where I saw a white glowing ball in a woodland. In the woods to my right was the ball and I immediately recalled the dream. I explored the woods to the left and returned to my original place. I watched a man do a strange dance followed by incredible acrobatics which I was able to participate in. The ball appeared at my feet, rolled up my body went over my head and rolled down my back and legs to the ground. This was very pleasing and at first I wanted to keep the ball but remembered the teachers instruction not to bring anything back.

After the session finished I was saddened that nobody else had experienced anything remotely similar and for a few hours I felt somewhat estranged from the rest of our otherwise quite close knit group. Also for an hour or two I had the strange sensation that my eyes were bigger than normal.

If anybody has any knowledge or ideas please share.

It's funny, but your story makes me think of a visualization I sometimes do as part of a relaxation exercise. I envision an orb - usually an orb of Darkness - that engulfs various parts of my body (starting at the feet and working up) to relax each part of the body bit by bit until I am surrounded in Darkness. There's a bit of energy work in there too, I suppose. Passing over various parts of the body (or aura, depending on how you want to look at it) is a common technique in that practice. Do you practice any sort of energy work?

sometimes, when shown something like a dance in a vision, the idea is to do the dance in the real world, to enact the vision. Members of the community (your 'tight knit' group) could be engaged to help you enact the dance, or it could be something that you would do alone.

Hi @beenherebeforeagain thanks for replying. The dance that I saw was way beyond the abilities of most probably all human beings.
yes, but the 'spirit' of the enactment may be more important, and some moves may be more symbolic than literal.

But, it was more a suggestion of how you might think about what your journey means for you...and, it could be instructions on how to dance in the vision world, next time you go there...

In my experience: it is a opportunity to begin the path of a healer of spirits. If you make a serious commitment to do the work then (many types of self initiation rituals/spells/workings are available).
In my experience: the spirit inside of the ball should reveal itself to you once you have committed to the work, it is most likely some sort of ancestor.
In my experience: I received this type of spirit from a aboriginal shaman, I worked with the spirit for 30+ years until enough damage was healed that it was able to reiterate and move on by itself. As I worked to heal this spirit I learned most of what I know about healing damaged spirits that are stuck in the astral/purgatory plane of existence. I have science used this knowledge to heal other spirits.
In my experience: one type of healing energy, dadirri.
'She shares that they cannot live good and useful lives unless they practice dadirri and that they learned how to do this from their ancestors.'

rocala, this information is in addition to my other post, I looked at the glowing light phenomenon from a spirit questing point of view. I knew of other reasons but I did not have the words to describe. The general name for these light balls is 'Sephiroth', of which there are reportedly 10 or 11 within each person, depending on how you are talking to and they are talked about as if they are the actual chakras.
In my understanding: one or more of them can be used to unite a individual person to a entity, where one of these light balls enters and connects with the person to another one of the same type or not.
In my experience: I know of occurrences where the sephiroth jumped into a person who then said that a god had entered them, (I believe this to be true by the subsequent actions of the person (who is still displaying incredible intelligence), within the limits of the sephiroth connection).
I have also read about another incident described as a jumping into in the historical documents, 'where the baby inside of Martha was entered into by a spirit when she greeted Mary' (paraphrased to bring out the meaning).

It's been said well by other travelers, but your intuition is the most powerful tool you can use, here. Glowing balls could signify the element of fire, the power of electricity (and so energy healing/illness), faeries or many other things.

Sometimes you see things now that don't make sense until much later, or at least so it has been in my experience. Log it in the old journal and travel on.
