Walking around it, you find that not only is there nothing behind the door, the door isn't there either. Here you have a one-sided door: the front of the door exists, but the back does not, at least not in this universe.

You walk back around and, still, whatever is on the other side persists on knocking.

Also, you somehow have intrinsic knowledge that, if you walk away, you'll never see this door again.

Does your curiosity outweigh your sense of danger here? Do you unlock and answer the door to see who, or what is knocking? Do you unlock the door, giving access to our reality to a being from a foreign one?

I would open the door. With any luck, it would actually be Who who's knocking. :)

In my experience: on spirit quests/journing, we sometimes run across doors to other planes of existence.
In my experience: It is only polite and proper, to open the doors for others who knock.
In my experience: it is a matter of conditions, so a spirit/being that is functional enough to knock, should be ok to pass over.
In my experience: the rule of thumb is that most functional beings are continually trying to get away from the lower planes where all of the refuse is dumped. o_O

The really funny part of this thread is that there is a chance that I am the one on the other side of the door, trying to get in. I say this because of a time differential, I have actually been able to view myself in real time from a place of no time. :)
