God's Existence

I feel that an entity exists which created the universe. I doubt it's a person in the sense that most gods people worship are distinct "people" in a sense, with preferences, desires, anthropomorphic characteristics; I don't claim to know anything about it, but it seems unlikely that it's a thing humans can relate to. The only reason I have for believing that is because it's difficult for me to accept that the universe has always existed, or somehow came from nothing.

As it is though, this belief doesn't particularly affect my life. Because the belief in such a god doesn't affect how I live, I feel justified calling myself an atheist, in the same sense that agnostic atheists consider themselves atheists despite not believing that a god doesn't exist.

I have to go with IF God exists, God is a universal God, not a Hindu God, A Hebrew God, Christian God, Islamic God, Zoroastrian God, nor whatever culture in the history of humanity makes a vain attempt to define what is God. God would exist irrespective of any one human cultural perspective.

I believe in God, but the reality is the nature of our physical existence can not exist from the fallible human perspective, and not necessary, especially from any one cultural perspective.

To tell you honestly, I hate the word god. America's religious history and wars are built up on this word and I can't get by a week without hearing it, Lord, or Jesus more than two or three times.

God exists as made up from our language, culture, environment, and interactions with our community and self. It's how and the results of our place while living.

I was raised believing in spirits or souls of the deceased rather than of a creator. Spirits who warn us, protect us, and bless us. I feel they exist because I'm still living and have interacted with them. Spiritualist name it energy, if technical, but most of us say Spirit (collection of how they define infinite intelligence) or to me a easier word to define a whole of a collection of many parts.

The god of monotheistic religions, mainly judaism, muslim, and christianity, I feel don't exist separate from their culture, traditions, and language. If you took those things away, I feel you'd "take away god." I understood this from being in the Church for four years a year ago. Astounding experience.

Personally, I feel like it could be either.

You have to define what God is first. If God means the presence of the universe, that means God exists everywhere, regardless of if you want to call it God. But most people don't hold this belief, and the beliefs they do hold about God (if they have one) are a bit more complicated.

I tend to be on the side that says God doesn't exist because I feel like the things people use to prove the existence of God create sketchy conclusions and are better used to conclude other things. One example people provide is the connection of a poor life with little activity in faith. From my experience, drawing mostly from observing Christians (many of which make a lot of sketchy claims based on sketchy conclusions), those who focus more on faith than life, rather than balancing the two or having more of a life focus, tend to live lives they are unsatisfied with. I feel that is more a person's own undoing and not really God's punishment (as they claim). In other words, people using God to remain irresponsible. One reason I stayed away from religion until recently was because I was tired of this sort of thing being common among the religious population.

If God does exist, that existence is more likely outside of our world. If not, it's just existence. I don't think it is possible for a being to be in charge of everything in the world to keep it orderly and watch over absolutely everything at the same time. It makes more sense for the power to be split into smaller forms or to be that of nature itself, in my view. God probably created it but it would be hard to control it all the time, everywhere. Furthermore, God cannot be proven with facts or faith alone. And even then it's hard to come up with something convincing to those who support the "negative" side of the argument.

Good question, @new. ^^

I do believe that God exists. Why? My major reason is that I believe that God is not only transcendent, but also immanent, interwoven with all of creation. God is Life, Truth, Beauty.... In all of these (and to me, in their shadows as well) there lies the Face of God. Furthermore, God exists as that Ultimate Reality which finds expression in the countless Names, Forms and Conceptions that human beings have devised. In each and all of these, again, there lies the Face of God.

if I left it to my feelings......I would have no belief
I would be chasing my feelings and ignoring anything Greater

I think.....and therefore believe.....
there is a God

Can't have God existing, when there is no God around to prove otherwise.

What does it mean to "exist"?
What does it mean to "not exist"?

If God "exists" where is He to be found?
I look under a stone. Is He there?
I look on the top of the mountain. No end to sight; no sight of Him.

Sitting at home alone in my room. No one is there.
The windows and doors are shut. The lights are off.
Some say this is where He is found, but I can't see anything.

Walking outside, I wave at a friend.
He smiles back.

Interesting dissertation. I mostly agree.
But how do you answer the critic who wonders why a loving God would allow war and crime and sickness and death?

I have no use for god concepts. Ask me what I think about Being and then we might have some fun. God concepts are just so boring.

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
it is clear to me that we are spawned or created or both from intelligent causes. I don't believe we see all of reality. consciousness is fundamental to existence because we are created. eternal life forms might in fact exist, I believe they do. i believe their is an omnipresent force in nature.
There is the science way of thinking and evidencing reality, and opposite of that is intuition. I see simple obvious intelligences to nature, why make it complex.

I see holes in logic that must be answered, and you have to answer all the holes or none. it could be that we live in a vast infinite sea of non physical forces of life.

whatever the full answer to reality is, it is stranger than fiction.

I think I like your reply the best.

It's more honest and genuine in approach.

If you ask me, having a conversation with yourself and the universe, makes for the best holistic answers and discoveries, of which it's glittering reflection, reflected back from the abyss, sees well beyond the very heart of any God whom dares to cross one's path.

if something bad is happening around us then we sometimes feel why god is letting it happen, i do not know but i feel if god could have stopped it then he would have done it but how can god have limitations that god is not stopping those who are doing bad or why children are having problems from birth who are just born what could be the reason but one think i am sure that god is not the reason for that because god is good or goodness itself. it is true that god is not stopping bad things happening but also god is not doing them we are doing that. even if god will come to us and tell us all that why god is not stopping all bad every time and will also tell us the reason for he same it will still not stop those things to happen and if god will stop everything bad now then we will be just good everything will be just good but if then someone by chance wishes to do bad again then what will god do if god will stop him by force then who are we ? god's puppets robots ? who will do everything good by force? but a child who is just born why is he facing ? many questions about god's management comes to mind but now i feel that i am here in this world to be good and follow goodness and only the one who is always good all the time can be god and i feel that when i will be good in most of the times more i will understand the value of goodness and goodness and god. and i feel that goodness or righteousness i choose not to get good in return but i must do right because i know its right inside . big full stop. not for anything else . i know its right so i will do right or good...

Yes, and that's the great challenge and we have to submit and leave it to the one
who brought us into life.

The prophet himself lost his only son and that doesn't let him being away of God

The best thing is to leave everything to God, it's up to him how he manages the world,
for example he promised to give the power for the Jews and to let them more stronger
and more powerful than Muslims and he'll let them have Jerusalem close to the end of
time, should we hate God for that.

Define "exists." Plenty of things exist in our minds but not as physical matter or energy. I know that Karl Jung believed in ideas passed on through a "collective unconsciousness" as archetypes/symbols. God is an archetype, the embodiment of the "absolute" or "ultimate" reality, or laws that govern reality. Maybe my god is different than yours because my reality is different than yours. Aleister Crowley said, "Every man and every woman is a star. Every number is infinite; there is no difference." Liber Al Legis Everyone is a star in their own universe, on their own course. If no two mans experiences can be the same, how can two mans "gods" be the same? I think that really "god" is just our projection of what we experience as reality. But mans experience is limited, thus our "gods" are limited. "God" is what we see as the governor of reality.

God is real, bro. He answers prayer, gives the Spirit freely, is merciful, creative and Almighty.

I like this verse.
Romans 1:20New International Version (NIV)
20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

sharing few lines in support of god's evidence
"Those who say that they do not believe in god have their own story behind. Everyone has a story. we do not know anyone else completely. Even we do not remember ourself completely. It is really difficult to understand that why bad things are happening if god exists then why not god stopping those bad things. why god let anyone do bad things and if god has power to stop then why not doing it. so either god is not good enough so who is not good enough can not be termed as god so god does not exist they feel that way. and moreover if god exists then they demand evidence. if we understand that they might have seen many problems in lives as i have read somewhere that " you have seen just your problems ... how much less you have seen"
But in my opinion god exists. god is goodness and we all have seen acts of goodness around. and which creates a possibility that there might be the one who is always good all the time , he / she or that energy itself is goodness or I can term that as god because if someone is not good enough then that is not god and the one who is just goodness is god.
now why not its possible that goodness is just goodness and not god and nothing like god exists and how goodness is related to power as god is most powerful so how goodness is power ?
answers i feel are that more good we are then more we have power and less fear for example when a child steals a chocolate from refrigerator then he has fear that his mother might catch him. similarly only when we do a not good thing more we do that more is our fear and less power and more we are good i mean for more time then it makes us more powerful fearless calm and even blissful.
and the first question was why not goodness is just goodness and why goodness is god.what if no one exists who is always good all the time who we can name as god. then alright do not consider a face or creature as god or identity let god be just energy, let goodness be just goodness what is goodness a good thought a good act a good behavior then after all it is energy in us so let god be just good energy in us. does anyone need to have evidence that do we have energy in our body ? and if we use that energy for good like for caring others then it is i feel it is the grace of god or goodness in us
And if we use energy to make fun of someone lets say which is not good we know or anything bad we do then its a choice we make to use our power for bad. and god does not wish us to be robots or god's puppets who will do whatever god permits but god guides us all within us and through various other ways to choose goodness and i feel goodness is not just a choice but a need. and to understand god completely and all god's acts and decisions and justice or to understand goodness completely we have to be good in all moments tiny moments current moments and to remember to be good always and more we are good more we will understand goodness and god i feel ...."

You are entitled to your opinion, i too have acts of goodness however i prefer to credit the people performing those acts than a bronze age, evidenceless myth.

Imagine if all children come with leukemia, if few have it then why not a lot of them
or all of them, nature doesn't have a control over the creation.

I think such few cases of abnormalities should be regard as a sign for God and not the contrary.

Why any of them?

What? You think a sick child is a sign of god?
