is bacon a term for a specific cut or preparation from any animal or is it a technical term only for meat from a hog?

Right or wrong, it's also used to describe similarly cured cow, turkey, & lamb (in my eating experience).
So I use "bacon" more broadly than some would.

Rosends, I swear I told them about Turkey Bacon, but words like heresy and sacrilegious came my way.

I'm just trying to figure out if it is technically correct or not, because there is kosher beef, turkey, lamb and duck "bacon".

I'd forgotten about duck bacon....I've had that too.
The term, "bacon", generally refers to cured pork.
But these days, it can refer to other meats if followed by the critter term.

When I was young, I loathed bacon. It seemed to perfectly embody all that was wrong with the world of humans.
Now I am old, and even bacon falls within the realm of what one must tolerate, in the world of humans.

my child actually likes the Morningstar Farms veggie bacon. In that sense, I have failed as a father.

But since she also loves Facon, and ribs and steak, I'm willing to give her that veggie stuff for non-meat meals.
We will strive to show tolerance for her tastes.
I urge all to say nothing cruel to her.

To be fair, I've had veggie burgers that were passable.

I tried to follow his recipe, but it wasn't until my kitchen was a disaster did I realize I was reading it in the wrong direction.
