"Trump revealed submarine locations to Philippines president"

Wow.

I don't have any words here. I don't know what to say.

You going to continue to support the Philipino Fuehrer when he inevitably starts rounding up other Untermenschen? Oh. I'm sorry. "Addicts" and "Undesirables"?

He didn't round anybody up. It all depends on what his intent is. If he was trying to put an end to a serious problem of illegal drugs in the country it seems like a good reason. More honest than if he did round them up and use them as prison labor like they do in America. His might actually stop the drug problem.

Getting back to the topic. If Trump said there are nuclear submarines located in the oceans of the Earth, I believe Jeremiah would still cry that Trump gave away our sub locations.

He urged his citizens to kill suspected drug addicts and sellers. No trials. No juries. Just a carte-blanche to kill whoever you want so long as you can make it appear like they were involved with drugs in some way, however minor.

A nation-wide, state-sanctioned pogrom. And you sit there, not only excusing it, but claiming it's some kind of justice? It's clear to me now that you don't know the meaning of the word.

He didn't say kill whoever you want. He said kill addicts and drug sellers. If you killed anyone but them it would be murder.

It's a war on drugs. In a war do they give an enemy combatant a trial by jury to decide if he is an enemy combatant before shooting them?

I'm just so sure no one abused this power at all.

They're citizens. Not enemy combatants fighting under a foreign flag. These are his own citizens.

They are criminals ruining his country. America had a civil war, citizens killing citizens. It's not always foreign combatants.

I suppose I should've expected there would need to be a history(and apparently legal) lesson at some point in this thread.

The Confederate States of America proclaimed itself as a sovereign state, with a government, diplomats, its own mint and its own army and navy. These were uniformed soldiers, who fought under a foreign(or at the very least treasonous-separatist) flag. While the Union never dejure saw the areas the CSA occupied as anything but states in rebellion, defacto they had all the trappings of a separate state.

The CSA used soldiers who happened to have volunteered or been conscripted from areas that depending on how you view the legality of the Confederate attempt at separation either were, or formerly were, part of the United States.

The people Duterte is having murdered are not remotely comparable with Confederate soldiers. Because they aren't soldiers. They aren't even Al-Qaeda or ISIS style unorthodox enemy combatants. These are individual citizens who are being murdered.

The most applicable historical comparison to what's going on in the Philippines is the Kristallnacht. Replace "Jew" with "Druggie", "Germany" with "Philippines" and "Hitler" with "Duterte" and the two are identical.

No, drug addicts and especially drug dealers are criminals ruining his country. What Duterte is doing is not like Hitler at all and does not bother me in the least. Its more like the Jews in Jesus's time, stoning people in the streets. But not a victimless crime like prostitution, this is killing drug pushers who ruin lives and mercy killing heroin addicts.

Giving power to the people to defend their loved ones against the drug pushers. Someone trying to get your kids hooked on drugs..pop pop . dead drug dealer. Don't think the drug pushers are innocent babies helpless to fight back.

Voters are getting exactly what they voted for.

It's hard to hear them say "well, we learned our lesson". Yes, you learned that a man, who during the campaign acted like a self centered egomaniac with no clue about foreign policy and a penchant for speaking out his bunghole, is actually a self centered egomaniac with no clue about foreign policy and a penchant for speaking out his bunghole. Good job on that.

Case in point...

I guess everybody would know it's a bad time to start doing drugs, even on a bender. Drug crisis over huh?

Yes, and you've created a population who thinks it's okay to simply kill everyone who is a problem. Brilliant strategy.

Better hope you don't manage to **** them off.

Always worrying about something...If the crowd took it upon themselves to decide who to kill then they would be vigilante's and Jeremiah would complain until their ears fell off.

The country isn't being ruined by drug users any more than any other country. Duterte just has a personal antipathy for drugs. It could have been shoplifting, speeding, or homosexuality. The penalty is summary execution, no trial or even evidence needed.
Can you not see the problem here?

So let me make sure I understand you. The leader of the country stands up and says kill all the drug addicts and you are okay with that?

Some here are saying he said it's ok to kill drug dealers and basically any of that lot. Yep, it doesn't bother me a bit. I suspect there will be a lot of drug addicts cleaning up their act fast, and drug dealers fleeing the country. Hurray for Duterte, a man with sense.

First he came for the drug addicts, and I did not speak out, because I was not a drug addict....

You don't see a slippery slope here?

That sounds disjointed. I wish I could get your junkie butt to the Philippines.

No drug dealer in his right mind would go there now. What you're wishing is equal to murder to want to send a junkie to the Philippines.

That's horrible. You really think that people who use drugs deserve to die? Pretty evil way of thinking.

If they are so far gone that even the fear of certain death doesn't convince them to kick the habit, maybe it's the only way. Some people might choose to help the addicts kick their habit and get clean. Some might shoot the real bad ones who are pushing drugs to the kids on the corner. The people are still human, just with the authority to do something about drugs on the streets.

So, the only way you can defend it is by creating a straw man. I asked whether addicts deserve to die, not drug dealers.
