Question Regarding Trump So Far (Conservative Only)

If you voted for Trump and/or support more conservative political ideas, how do you think he is doing so far? What would you like to see him focus on next? Is there a particular campaign promise that needs more attention? I know it is early, but with all of the doom-gloom in the media, I am genuinely curious of how others think he is doing. Thanks!

Trump is not a conservative. He has some conservative views. What he is, is what he is, and few have ever encountered such a thing before.
Those who hate him, hate him for being who he is, as opposed to what they think he should be.
Those that love him, love him because he is who he is, and don't expect everybody to be identical cardboard cut-outs.

What? Me worry?
About what I expected. Not unhappy. Much to the chagrin of the left, we are starting to see results in the areas that we expected.

I didn't vote for Trump but I really disliked the Clintons. I 'd rather Trump then Hillary. I was ok with Trump until he bombed Syrian. I didn't like the ACA I probably won't like the AHCA. I think government involvement tends to make things worse.

I don't see him as worse than any other president. I hope he doesn't do anything to change that. I think his style of doing things is not what the public is used to. He is not a politician and in general, I don't trust politicians. My wife who is an immigrant thinks Trump is the greatest. No point in trying to criticize him in my house.

I hope he does well and makes America a better place. How one goes about that is kind of a crap shoot. So maybe needs some luck as much as anything else.

Conservatives understand the traditional meanings of words. Leftists don't, and apply any meaning they like to the same words.
What does 'progressive' mean, anyway?
To even begin to understand what the left is going on about, you have to invert everything they say, just like they do to everything.
Personally, I'd rather not inhabit a mirror-image reversal of life.
But each to his own.

Well, I'm a conservative and registered Republican, but I voted for Hillary. In some ways, Trump is doing as I expected. Since he had no political experience, he didn't know how to do things. His learning curve will take at least a year, so he will continue to bumble his way through. And his lack of specifics during the campaign continue to be an issue for me, as it doesn't seem to me that he is providing leadership on issues. I would like to see him have clearly stated visions and goals, but he is still just issuing slogans.

On the other hand, I have been pleasantly surprised by his executive orders. I like almost all of them and I'm glad he is trying to get done what he can.

Overall, it is still early and many things can happen but Trump is on his way to earning my vote four years from now.

Follow up question: Do you think this is something unique to Trump? I know for Obama 1, he was also pretty vague.

Trump is on his way to earning my vote four years from now.

That's a very telling statement. You place your own importance above that of the POTUS?
He has to earn your vote?
It's like stating that God has to earn your respect; something I've seen a lot of on this very forum.

Very few people seem to understand what a leader is, any more, or their relationship to the leader.
And hierarchy is a conservative concept.
Your function is to support the leader, not insist he earns your support.

Is it not?

Please tell me that you are not equating Trump to G-d.

And yes, every elected official has to earn my vote. It's part of the democratic process. I'm not a mindless drone, as you're claiming to be, marching in lockstep with a party.

I claim to be nothing. I see a pattern. It's about humility, not in order to appear humble, but as an orientation towards life.
Without this orientation, you get what you get: a godawful mess.

You've perfectly outlined why democracy fails, though.

Depends on which area., On jobs (in my area at least). I think he is doing very well. Oklahoma depends on oil and gas for its economy (mostly), and those jobs are back and is reflected by an increase in my business.
Environmentally? He scares the heck out of me.

One question, I have been almost a life long Republican. I truly believe that Trump is an incompetent idiot that will hard the country. I could not vote for him.

Does that disqualify me from being a conservative?

Worse yet I can see that the care that Sanders advocated may have been a fiscally conservative approach to healthcare. Our current system appears to overcharge the consumers since we pay far more than any other country does for healthcare. Obamacare has its problems, but our old system was broken and serious reform is needed. Right now we pay multiple levels of bureaucracy that various European countries do not have. We pay for both insurance company and government bureaucracy. We pay for legal bureaucracy. Single payer seems to eliminate at least two layer of bureaucracy and give the government quite a bit of power over big pharma. That is one more way we are overcharged.

As far as my conservative side I can see how Obama is largely responsible for ISIS. We had a controlled situation. Leaving Iraq too early may have saved us some money and lives in the short run, but in the long run it will cost us more of both.

I don't think so. Does Trump display conservative values? He might but to such an extreme that they step past the outliers.

I disagree, but given the forum we will have to exchange olive branches this time. :)
