Please note that this poll is an investigation of members' opinions in my capacity as a regular member asking about my idea and that it does not represent an official stance of the administration.

Do you think a forum section titled Religious and Non-Religious Holidays/Feasts for posting greetings, stories, information, etc., concerning such holidays/feasts is a good idea or not? "Happy Christmas," "Eid Mubarak," "Happy Passover," etc., threads would go there, and members would be able to exchange personal stories involving family and friends, for example, that happened on any such holiday. It would also be a non-debate forum.

Thank you.

Sounds like a nice idea, especially for those who celebrate holidays outside of their religion for cultural or social reasons. It could be a fun place to talk about, say, your own Christmas traditions in a space that doesn't require any religious backing.

I think this is a good idea, if nothing else, as a bit of an aid to get ourselves out of the ethnic or religious box we live in. We can still post in our own DIRs as well of course, So I say give it a try, see how it goes, DS.

If you don't mind elaborating, what are your reservations about the proposed forum section, if any?
Not at all.

It seems to me that the most natural place to acknowledge and/or discuss a particular religious festival would be the appropriate DIRs functioning under the old rules, and that the proposed forum section serves primarily as a bandaid required under the new rules.

I've reconsidered my vote. I would hope to see such a forum governed by a strict No Debate policy.

Thanks for the clarification.

Just letting you and everyone else here know that I have been thinking about changes to the DIR system over the last week. The administration is still tweaking the system, so there is room for change.

Far be it for me to comment on the administration. Let me just say that you demonstrate a rather creative use of the word 'tweaking', a term which, for me at least, calls to mind the judicial use of jeweler's tools rather than a wrecking ball. :)

I hate to be a buzzkill, but I feel like these topics, while awesome ones, are already encompassed elsewhere by other subforums.
