Happy to not Believe.

I think without the fog of faith I can see the world more as it is and I don't need to bend and twist my core to match any religious ideology. I can look with pure intent to see what is there. This makes me happy about being someone who does not have to look at the world through the blur of religious faith.

I heard that non-believers are suppose to be an unhappy people that secretly long for the warmth of religious faith. Since I am happy to not believe, I thought well maybe there is something wrong with me; maybe I am different than the rest of the non-believers. So how about you? Do you secretly wish you could believe?

May you find all the peace and happiness you are looking for! :)

If God insists on hiding himself and remaining silent, he must know that a natural consequence of that is people will not believe in him. He would be quite irrational to consequence you for it. I wish you the best of luck!

I've found that it's easier to accept life on life's terms without believing. If life is viewed as a series of random events with no real meaning or external guidance, it's a lot easier to accept than the idea of some sentient powerful entity actually doing all of this on purpose. Some religions imply that everything that happens, even down to the minutest detail, is all part of "God's plan," which leads some people to believe that there is some deeper, hidden meaning behind every event. But that just sets people up for disappointment, false hope - and can lead to greater unhappiness.

It would be nice to believe in a creator then I can choose a creator-religion that correlates with ancestral importance such as Lukumi or other African faiths in this area. If I believed in a creator, it would make it easier to understand the Muslim faith because I admire their devotion and discipline. It would make more sense why people see an creator as an entity.

However, it's all peer pressure to conform to my environment. Being someone without a religion to me is being in the middle of an ocean without a boat. One doesn't need to have purpose, believe in the supernatural, or do cart wheels to be religious. It just means finding a sense of self maybe in family, in others, oneself, and/or community. Finding either the global outlook in life or maybe finding little bits of reasons why you want to keep living even when your body is physically dying. It doesn't have to give hope and you don't need faith to be religious.

So, I'm happy where I am not believing in a creator. I'm only an atheist by technicality; I don't believe deities exist. Outside of that, I'm religious and I do believe in the supernatural.

So, I'm pretty much in the middle.

Why wouldn't you (and I and others) be happy without god(s)? I found no comfort in a god when I was a believer and life makes much more sense with a higher being.
