Anarchist?

RF is based in the USA, where Libertarianism generally refers to right-wing libertarianism, which is similar in spirit minarchism or perhaps even anarcho-capitalism.

Anarchism is a left-wing (or post-left!) ideology, so probably wouldn't fit well here, although it is of course libertarian in the true sense.

The introduction thread states that while right-wing libertarianism is the most common on the forum, it does say that left-wing libertarianism does fall under that category. The reason why I asked is because it was not clear on whether they consider anarchy to be a form of libertarianism.

This is merely a curiosity for me anyways. I think that the idea of specific categories where only one category of thought can contribute is more harmful than good, so I would likely put threads I start into the general politics section.

Certainly, anarchism is libertarian leftism.

Despite what those pesky mods tell you, there's only one kind of "libertarian",
ie, the original kind going back to British (pre-French) roots.....the kind which
favors maximal liberty in both economic & social areas. This is the usage in
both the USA & the Canuckistan Libertarian Parties.

What's called "left libertarian" really fits what N Americastanians call "liberal".
Consider the Nolan Chart.....

The problem with the "right" prefix is that it typically connotes authoritarianism,
which is the opposite of libertarian thought.

"Anarchy" means different things to different people.
Do you belong here?
If you feel you do, then I say you're welcome.
It should be more about productive discussion than gate keeping.
(We're less in need of a "safe space" than some restricted forum types.)
Enjoy!

I think that all of the charts used are subjective.

To be clear I believe in complete anarchy.

I'm more of a minarchist type, seeing some (limited) government as not just unavoidable, but even beneficial.
My political persuasion is quite pragmatic as libertarians go, but here on RF I'm an extremist.
Here's hoping that you're even more extreme than I.

There's a wide range of thought about how much government is appropriate.

I only think that anarchy will work when we have been fully enlightened as a whole. Until then I wish to see a very small government.

I don't know of any libertarians that support anarchy. Most I know are minarchists.

I'm not sure where you are getting this right-wing/left-wing libertarian from. Most I know are socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

Hold on there partner. Anarchocomunism is left-wing, but that's just one branch. Plenty of ancaps and market anarchists out there.

I think I'm somewhat similar in general. Small government is my view too, minimal input on the lives of it's citizens (this includes technology etc).

But I'm Right-Libertarian from what I understand of politics, I'm not too fond of totalitarianism or fascism/communism tbh.
I'm also supportive of Anarchism (in it's true meaning), so yeah. What I understand of Left-wing politics tends to make me ill and nauseous. The more I learn about politics the more I realize I'm a so-called "right-winger". I'm just not fond of government at all and I'm not at all supportive of 20th/21st century "morality". I highly favor religious values over secular valuelessness too. So there ya go!

Most Left-wingers I see (like Liberals) think they've achieved the ultimate cake and there is no cake left to eat, it's stupid, look at yourselves lol. However I will add that when it comes to Economy, I do think many of Marx's ideas are useful and should be integrated.
