Islamic anger

I have debated Christians, hindus, sikhs etc

However i have found muslims are quick to anger in what should be a normal conversation if you disagree or express an opinion contrary to there belief.

They will happily explain why Buddha came from the devil, but if you give your opinion on Muhammad you can see they would kill you if given half a chance.
Don't debate religion...
Most hard core believers, including secularists and Leftists, tend to get testy when you deny that their beliefs are valid.

I agree that Islam is more dangerous than other religions. The reason I believe is that their holy book allows and even encourages murder. Also sharia law is seen by a Muslim to supersede any law of the land. That said my orthopedic MD screwed me (you all get your minds out of that gutter! lol) together after my lower extremities were crushed in a high speed motorcycle crash. She tended to me for a year, knowing I was a Christian, and was a beautiful kind soft spoken intelligent woman. Most Muslims are more like her than BenLaden. Still due to their serious ability to give everything to Allah trusting is more difficult than for those of another religion. Most people should know the majority of Muslims are non-violent. I would also say most non-Muslims don't hate Muslims, they hate violent Muslims. When I wrote about the trade towers and aftermath I began using an 'R' prefix to delineate violent radical Islam/ Muslins or terrorists Moderate nonviolent Muslims. Example; RIslam or RMuslim.

Honestly, despite reforms they're no better. I mean, they don't engage in terrorist attacks - though even that's debatable - but many Christians are still violent; albeit to a lesser degree. I've had "sweet" old ladies go from thanking me for helping them to literally spitting on me when they find out that I'm not Christian..

Really....really? Little old christian ladies that spat on you because you said you aren't a christian? I was hard core atheist for the first two decades of my life and well traveled, but never had a christian spit on me for anything! I had never heard of such things until I began interacting on the net where animosity creates such beasts as those spitters ! Also if that did happen of happens often you can be sure our holy book (the new testament) does not promote spitting on anyone for any reason.

It depends on how nice of a smirk you have on your face when you ridicule their lifestyle or call their God a derogatory name or worse. When someone does these things forgive me but it seems like they are trying to get an response of anger. What do they expect when a person suggests the Christian is a liar or disrespects the deity they have chosen to dedicate their life to with insult after insult? This is just a guess but maybe if you or anyone tried to extend respect for our belief systems instead of slinging insults and ridicule you might just get that respect returned.

I am unconcerned with what your holy book - even one half of it that Evangelicals are prone to focusing on - promotes or says to do. Evidently there are many that ignore it.

I just thought you might want to speak from knowledge rather than from what seems like ignorance. A christian will not be spitting on anyone however a 'want to be' christian might or a false prophet that would be happy to devour the unawares like a raving wolf~

Matthew 7:15. "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

I believe it is a form of idolatry.

I believe people blashpheme Jesus all the time but in doing so they are blaspheming God. I don't get angry because I know that God is capable of defending Himself and if He wants to get angry those people better run for cover.

I think there should be a big distinction here between "debate" and "discuss". In the context of "debate" I think that the fundamental claims of a perfect book and a perfect prophet make debate less civil.

I have had discussions with hundreds of Muslims and rarely found that they get angry more often than anyone else. Many are lovely and gentle souls and genuinely believe in what they say. As a strong atheist I'm not threatened by such equally strong beliefs. I find their thinking challenging, and often enjoy their subtle use of humor @Godobeyer @FearGod @Smart_Guy

That is not to say that some cannot be, shall we say, memorable... LOL.... yes, that is a rather kind way of putting it.

My advice? Change your tactics and you may find they react less violently to your comments.

I believe a lot depends on what you say. I once told a Pakistani Muslim that Mohammed was an adulterer because he had multiple wives. That didn't go over very well.

Check out the references in Post #6. I also find them to be more friendly than some I have encountered on other sites.

Honestly, I can't agree. For years I've gone to bat for various minority groups - and even some majority groups - with this same sentiment. With Islam especially, I no longer can with the repeated realization that they will not go to bat for me. When I've pressed Muslim friends and acquaintances with this, the answer I always get is along the lines of "Well, those are their beliefs." Even when those beliefs entail suppressing and persecuting others.

I've been on the end of being ill-spoken of. I've been in discussions about it. My particular religion has dealt with everything from hellfire condemnation to assumptions that we're all just Marvel fanboys - even accusations of racism and white supremacy thanks to our usual demographic and Neo-Nazi groups that use (or even share) our beliefs. Despite near a decade of combatting this, it never diminishes. Sometimes, I think it will never resolve in my lifetime.

And yet, I'm not quick to anger. Most times I chuckle at misconceptions before correcting - or attempting to correct. To the topic of racism, granted that's a little more frustrating and emotionally charged, yet I still do not resort to threats, name calling, or making an *** of myself in general.

Far less than this is repeatedly seen as setting off Muslims. Often violently or with the intent of violence. Frigg's sake, my God has been made into a comic book character, a cartoon - yet there's no outcry for Stan Lee's head. A cartoonist draws a caricature of Mohammed - not even the Muslim god - and he's killed. Killed. That is an unprecedented reply.

And it's not at all as though Islam is free of faults. They deserve a good portion of the criticism that they get. No one is free from criticism, not even they.

I believe I had a Norse person get angry with me for saying his gods are dead. I believe it was not because he didn't know it was true but because the implications are not so wonderful. After all is worshiping a dead god anymore valuable than worshiping a cartoon character?

Well, I don't speak for all "Norse persons" - Heathens, by the way - but neither can I really share in his frustration; any Heathen with eyes can see how silly the claim is, and that the Gods are most certainty not dead.

Have you read the Koran? I have- I own one. It's scary! Muslims are taught (it's in the Koran) to kill their enemies. They believe killing for allah is his will. They believe they will some day (soon, if the Democrats get their way) conquer the whole world and force convert or kill all who refuse to convert. That thot, then, gives no room or reason for discussion, to their way of thinking. It is their way or death. The verse in the Bible about Christians having their heads cut off and 'those who do it thinking they are doing God's will', I believe, refers directly to the rise of islam in these days. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Moderators. I am not trying to stir up trouble. I am only speaking the truth in reply to other's comments. If I am out of line I will remove my comment. But they are based on the facts and not any other ulterior motive or personal opinion.

There is no comparison between Christianity and other religions like Islam and Mormonism. Both of the latter actually teach that killing and destruction is what their god does. Their books teach hatred for other religions and all non-their religion.
Christianity's book, Bible, does not 'teach' hate. Sure, there are people who 'professed' to be Christians who have done horrible things, the Democrat-founded KKK and the Catholic church's Inquisition are two that come to mind. But there is a vast difference between a church teaching hate and some of a church's members teaching it.

Islam will never reform. Muslims have been destroying and killing since Mohammad personally oversaw the outright murder of between 800-900 Jews. He slaughtered them for refusing to convert to Islam. This is why Islam is so very dangerous. American liberals want to allow whoever from wherever to come into (invade) America. Every western nation, town muslims have entered they have, eventually, taken over. America is no exception if we do not (in my opinion)
1. Ban Islam from America
2. Make Muslims countries edit and rewrite the Koran- to remove (forever) the hateful teachings. Or, should they refuse to do that (and, they will certainly refuse),
3. Eradicate that 'organization' from our planet. Look, Islam is not a religion. Religions do not teach/practice what Islam does. So, it is an organization of hate (read its history). I hope I don't get into trouble for saying this bc it is the truth and Americans/the world must wake up to the truth/facts here. Plus, they have a choice. They can become part of our world or they can cause a war (witch they want). Appeasing the Arab world has never worked and it never will. All that does it give them the resources to build/buy a massive war machine to, then, be a formidable foe to the western world. To prove what I say look at every place Islam has 'invaded'. They tale over (conquer) build a huge mosque there.
Now, when Christianity is threatened and its people murdered then it grows. History proved this. But, the others threaten back or attack or make prophecies of destroying America, etc. (Ex.-Mormonism has issued 2 prophecies, from their god, of total destruction on America for perceived injustices. And, they whipped their people into frenzies of fear and hatred though, in reality, there were no injustices, only reactions to the LDS actions. noi, just the facts).

You say you're not trying to stir up trouble but that's exactly what you are doing. Do you read your own sentences?

Saying Islam will never reform, that they all must be the same because they read the Quran. That's like Saying Protestants and Catholics are the same because they read the bible. There were some countries that willingly adopted Islam and did not have it forced, but they don't talk about that do they? They don't mention that there are quotes in the Quran that specifically forbid force conversion, to love and tolerate people of other faiths, to avoid torture and so forth. Guess you skipped those parts. but you're going to see messed up stuff in a lot of holy texts anyway. I don't agree with all of Islam but I do agree with some ideas and believe some things in the texts are true Because it was written by multiple people over time like the bible. I don't believe personally it's the word of God but humans interpretation of the word of God

Banning Islam doesn't do jack. Aside from violating the first amendment, it wouldn't do good anyway. You really think they aren't still going to practice it secretly? They won't stop being Muslims because Islam is forbidden. That's how other religions survive. Any religious group that is persecuted will continue to practice their religion anyway.

Muslims have no interest in destroying America. Let's also not pretend that America is a saint either, getting involved in other countries affairs and wondering why they are mad at us. What they do over there is not right either. There's always more than one side to the story.

If you think Islam is the worst religion, you have no idea. There are other religions far worse and far more dangerous. Lots of them however happen to be small secretive cults that are hardcore dangerous but people don't bring them up very often

You have no idea you're being manipulated into hating them. I already know that what you're saying is a lie. If it was remotely true, the Muslim friends I have would never even talk to me, let alone be my friend. They never force converted me. Lots of them want what others want, which is peace. Hundreds of millions of Muslims don't go around force converting everyone they see. There are dangerous Muslim groups and ultra conservative groups that will not tolerate other ideas. Focus on them, not all of Islam itself or all Muslims. There are different Muslims and there are good ones out there, whether you want to admit it or not.

I can't stand it when people say these things and act as if they know the "truth" So few people actually know the truth of things.

I debate Christians mostly.. and the bad debaters sometimes use the "I'm so offended" logical fallacy. Yeah.. people with very closed minds who have been thoroughly indoctrinated will NOT necessarily be the most rational people in the world. If someone makes himself UNAVAILABLE for debate, they have abdicated.
If they run and hide due to some insult or whatever, another one bites the dust...

Next.

So, it's incumbent upon us to try at least to keep them interested in honest debate. With fundamentalists, that's never very easy.

It's not just Islam, though.
