They changed the meaning of the word to add credibility to "climate change". I'm sure the military only uses "Climate Change" in an alternate meaning, such as weather patterns.
Here in Canada, our conservatives will simultaneously deny that climate change is happening while also arguing to we need more military spending to protect our "arctic sovereignty" as the Northwest Passage becomes ice-free for more and more of the year to the point that it will become a viable (and valuable) shipping route that other countries might want to fight over.

They don't seem to get the contradiction.

Good for you for backpeddling away from your own words because further looking into the topic invalidates the accusations made in your original comment.

Backpeddling? I fully stand by: "Given my understanding of modern American science, and the propaganda battles being waged, I rejoice at this news."

Okay then. I won't repeat myself so I'll just let my rebuttal to that statement stand.

That's funny they have a photo dramatizing the effects of climate change, except I thought the seas were supposed to rise and flood coastal cities, yet the photo shows a low water line.... Yes, I think Trump should stop the propaganda of Cimate Change.
When the facts are on your side you don't need to resort to censorship. If you think the scientific data shows that Climate change is not real then you should want that information available to the public.

But it wasn't a rebuttal. More like a rant by changing the topic from what I asserted. What from the article are you relating to a) this thread and b) what I wrote?

Perhaps there is a discussion to be had yet, or perhaps you'll just stay up on your soapbox ranting. Your move.

Are the same individuals arguing both?

1984 is now near the top of the top seller book list on Amazon.

The spike in popularity seemed to come in the wake of Kellyanne Conway defending Sean Spicer's falsehoods about Donald Trump's inauguration crowd size as "alternative facts." Many on social media compared the phrase to the "NewSpeak" employed in 1984. ‘1984’ Is Back on the Best Seller List After Kellyanne Conway's ‘Alternate Facts’ Comment

#resist.

No 1984 newspeak would sound like "untruthier"

Unless there was a conspiracy of world powers and Trump wanted to look out for America.

Yeah sure. Modern American science, despite that climate change is recognized by science institutions world over.

Regardless of if you disagree, it is nonetheless true that concern over climate change is not an American phenomenon: Scientific opinion on climate change - Wikipedia

I'm really not sure why an agency that producing scientific evidence and projections of future timelines must be so feared and distrusted.

Because those scientists are part of the elite and to use a phrase coined here in Brexit Britain: "The people are sick of experts". They're supposed to hate the elite (except Trump and his white supremacist, dominionist cronies obviously). It's this sort of hostility to intellectualism that lets unscientific positions like climate change denial & Creationism flourish unchecked.

Trump is now the President, we are talking about scientists in the employ of the U.S. government. Don't you think Trump could just direct them to speak the truth about Climate change?

No more than he could get them to vote for him. They probably believe Climate Change is true, they've heard it enough time in school it's as real to them as Evolution.

Well if you want to know what the facts are, let the scientists speak. Then one can consider the facts.

From philosophy 101, or perhaps even science 101, the so called facts in the science arena would not lead us directly to truth. For science, I'm not sure if that's even the goal. For philosophy, I know it is. For science, I think it is an ideal, but the principle of finding evidence to support and refute claims is continuous / ongoing / without end. So, if any scientist is speaking, the idea of refuting any claims becomes a duty or challenge for anyone in the room with courage and ability to be reasonable.

But as I wrote in my first post of this thread about modern American science, I'm aware of a number of issues where scientists are speaking and there are propaganda battles, even within domain of science being waged. Thus facts are clearly in the arena of "alternative reality" within that domain. And given the obvious leftist agenda by some scientists, I rejoice at what Trump administration is up to. I realize it'll utterly disappoint leftist and they'll continue to spin the narrative to fit said agenda, but here we are still in week 1, and it'll be most interesting to see how this plays out.
