thought if you are seeking truth, you should also listen to the Non- believers...when seeking truth you always have to know both sides, you never know the ultimate truth, you should not only learn from those who believe, or what sense that would have?

I think my awareness of God began with the realisation that I am a created being-the result of being created,not something else.It was a devastating realisation.
All my knowing of God and myself as "religious" has rested on that.

I will not be so vain as to say I know GOD or even what HE expects from me.
But I do know that HE wants what is best for me. Yes, even the downfalls of life have there positive effect on us. Allthough we may not always agree with the way something is taught us, the lesson it`s self is allways a valuable one.
Now for your question.
Why do I need GOD?
Let me reply by asking you, why do you need to ask?
You already know the answer!
I think, just like most of us, you just can`t find the right words to explain it.
But I do know that HE wants what is best for me. Yes, even the downfalls of life have there positive effect on us. Allthough we may not always agree with the way something is taught us, the lesson it`s self is allways a valuable one.

If you look at "Gods" in a purely original biblical sense of Eloheem "these beings" or the Egyptian Neteru "human Gods" than I view them as my ancestors. I need to acknowledge them in order for me to be connected to my line going back to original creation.
I am not taling about who they call God in the context of "the original creator". This meaning does not match with this word. I don't understand why Christians don't look at the third declaration of the Lord's prayer [1. OUR father.. 2. who art IN HEAVEN.. 3. HOLY is thy NAME...} which is the part saying his name is holy. I would want to know what name Jesus is using and use that name for myself. I wouldn't care if "everybody" is using the name 'God'. Since when is "everybody" usually right when it comes to religious matters? Luckily I'm not a Christian although I do believe in the messiah Jesus.
I view 'God" in the sense of the 'All' or the essence of 'Nature". Not the words I like to use, but I think you get my meaning. Thats why I need God. However, in my order, we see ourselves as the "Gods" whose divinity is based on having a proper connection with our Great Ancestors, internally.

Why do we need God???? Lets generalize this question. 1) Look at this nation (USA). How corrupt, how self-centered, how materialistic, how evil it has become. America was founded on Biblical principles, coincidence that it is the greatest nation on earth? To some extent
We are now falling away from what it was initially made out to be. Taking God out of everything. 2) Now think
about our society and culture and how we have swayed from any sense of morality. Issues today would have not have been issues 40 years ago (ref. my dad. Considering Im only 21) Seriously
3) To answer your question
Why do we, need God???? Look at the American society and that should answer the question =/

You actually have this the wrong way round. America was founded by those wanting religious freedom. It has, though, become a christian nation and is going downhill as you say, look at your leader for instance. Only now is secularism starting to creep in, and many religious(mainly christian)people among you don't like it.MM21 said:

I've noticed it. I'm happier, more confident, stronger emotionally...and I feel a greater need to do good in the world and stand up for what I think is right. This is a good example of what I was going to say. I need God, like a toaster needs an electrical outlet. We are born with a set of internal batteries, but that will only get us so far. We can also draw power from others, but again, this will only get us so far and puts strains on relationships. If we want to run at full capacity, we need to plug into the unlimited source of energy.

I think we do not expecifically need to called God, some people just need something to love with all their strenght, and even if they claim they do not believe in God, the fact that they love someone or something with all their strenght, makes God to be in that place. Love is God, God is love.

We are the greatest nation...now when i say were sturggling i mean social and culture issues. More to individualize the hearts of the people. The nation itself...no one has freedom like we do. In alot of places you can't worship whatever God or no god if you choose to. This isn't a political discussion,but as much as i disagree with capatilism, it works.

I suppose I'll add my voice to the "I don't need" chorus.
I don't need my gods. I got on just fine without Them and, I suspect, I would get on just fine if I were to go without Them in future.
But I believe that a person and their gods can strike a mutually beneficial arrangement, even if that arrangement can be purely mercenary at times.

If I am created by the creator, then the creator has purpose for me. purpose drives the universe, therefore every individual thing within it. Coming to realize that nothing exists without purpose, shows that purpose is needed to be found and completed. That is why i need god, so that I may find purpose in a meaningless world

That is where we have to begin,I think. That connexion is essential with anOther.Call it "need" or faith or dependence. A dynamic of relationship is necessary. It divides the religious from the non-religious. A dialogue with an Unknown exists.
