A Universe from Nothing?

Then you misunderstand what comprises duality. Duality is any pair of opposites. Heaven and Hell are known polar opposites. Rocks and trees are not opposites as they are not in the same categories of things and do not form a continuum. Hot and Cold; Day and Night; Good and Evil; Masculine and Feminine, etc; these are all examples of polar opposites which are along a continuum. Seeing them as polar opposites is duality; seeing them as complementary, ie; two aspects of the same reality, is non-duality. Having the same source does not make them opposite nor dualities; seeing them as polar opposites does. To conceptualize a distinct Heaven vs a distinct Hell while preferring one over the other, is to dwell in the realm of the dual mind, and thus, delusion.
and herein is the problem.....your concept of opposites

you have become trapped in your illusion

That's just as well because you don't seem to have convinced anyone here, you have just annoyed everyone with your relentless arrogant preaching of new-age twaddle.

You speak for everyone? You're the primary whiner, because you fail to comprehend, or rather, simply ignore, as your main interest is in rabid denigration, no matter what.

Pointing to the moon implies an intuitive understanding. All one need do is to go see for themselves. But you are too lazy and insist on explanations, like a stubborn school boy. You haven't learned from your 30 years on the meditation mat that the Zen experience is beyond all explanations; beyond Reason, Logic, and Analysis.

Now go to your room!:p

Excuse me, Thief, but those are not MY concepts, but generally accepted ones. I have explained how heaven and hell are polar opposites, but you refuse to listen, as your mind is dictated to by your religious dogma.

If you want to further this discussion, then demonstrate how heaven and hell are NOT opposites. Otherwise, this is done.

The Gates of Paradise

A soldier named Nobushige came to Hakuin, and asked: "Is there really a paradise and a hell?"

"Who are you?" inquired Hakuin.

"I am a samurai," the warrior replied.

"You, a soldier!" exclaimed Hakuin. "What kind of ruler would have you as his guard? Your face looks like that of a beggar."

Nobushige became so angry that he began to draw his sword, but Hakuin continued: "So you have a sword ! Your weapon is probably much too dull to cut off my head."

As Nobushige drew his sword Hakuin remarked: "Here open the gates of hell!"

At these words the samurai, perceiving the master's discipline, sheathed his sword and bowed.

"Here open the gates of paradise," said Hakuin.

Thou art That
all in package...no duality

So you accept heaven and hell together, then, as one package, right?

I am all for intuitive understanding, but that involves simplicity, openness and directness, which is diametrically opposed to your approach. Your approach involves blind faith in a steaming pile of muddled new-age dogma with no insight whatsoever.

As usual you cannot respond to criticisms of your proselytizing, so you resort to lame ad homs in an attempt to make yourself sound superior. Pathetic.

Pot calling the kettle black, again. You are the one who is deeply attached to dogma.

I just knew you were going to jump in to defend Thief's completely illogical argument.

You don't even know what you're saying here, nor why, so butt out.

Now you have made a second false claim about me, the first being that I claimed Enlightenment, which to date, you have failed to prove and avoid like the plague: I am going to ask for your evidence of my dogma, which you won't respond to in any real way, except to regurgitate your usual vomit about Chopra, pseudo-whatever, and a string of silly labels you don't even understand.

So go ahead. Put both feet in your mouth.
