That's a reference to the false prophets that were many in Israel.

The only thing you have as an evidence that Jesus is not dead is your faith; that's why Paul said that you must walk by faith and not by sight. (II Cor. 5:7) He knew that, by sight, you could never prove any thing and that by faith, it would make of you irrefutable.
