Are you feeling ok?

But isn't that what some religions are based on scriptures found in pots. The pagans had the documented stone tablets. I wish they had a computer or PDA then.

I've never heard of the "chatolic church." :D

But the Catholic Church and I might disagree on some of the fine points of "original sin." That doesn't mean that I would go so far as to say that they're just flat "wrong." Further, the Catholic version of "original sin" has nothing to do with humanity's "inherent evilness." I have no idea what the chatolic church's version says...

chatolic yep people who chat....lol

Because we have our free will and agency to choose what we want to do in life.

We are good, but that doesn't mean we don't sin.

But they say sin is evil. So if you do things that are evil, aren't you considered as evil?

Stop avoiding the question. Have you read the Bible? Any version will do (except the children's picture bible).

One does not simply read the bible, one experiences the bible. I already isolated the belief.. Catholic Religion believes everyone has original sins so who is avoiding what? I asked you is your knowledge on the bible or have you had the pleaseure of actually seeing the scriptures that is not for public viewing? King James, isn't he the guy who had a mother who killed her husband because her lover was murdered which she thinks he conpired with? King James version...

You are avoiding a very simple question. I have no desire to debate with someone who doesn't have the integrity to say whether or not they have any idea what they are talking about.

I'll take your avoidance as a no. And, you have nothing to back up your statement in the OP about what the Bible says. I'll know from now on that when you say the Bible says something, you are really saying that you assume the Bible says it. There is no need to continue here.

The scripture found in pots are merely older manuscripts of existing Biblical texts. They're called "The Dead Sea Scrolls," because they were found in caves at Qumran, above the Dead Sea in...1948(?)

You hit the problem right on the head, Prof! Here's the deal:
You're wanting the Biblical texts to be like a textbook -- full of facts. But the Bible isn't fact -- it's revelation. Stories and poetry and songs that speak about truth...and sometimes in a (what seems to us) convoluted way. Different people from a different time and culture, with different world views than we have today. The Bible is difficult ot understand on some levels. We all wish it could be simpler...

I do not believe in the inheritance of original sin, so I cannot speak to that particular part of the OP. I do think though, that the idea of man being inherently evil (not from the idea of inheritance of evil, but from the predisposition to do evil) is in direct violation of the idea of free choice. To me, it the choices that you make and the actions that you take that make you good or evil. Man is inherently neutral to good or evil, and becomes one or the other through living their life.

You can assume what you want...

I've pretty much got to, because you can't seem to say either the word "yes" or the word "no". That, and I can think of at least twice that you have claimed that the Bible says something that it doesn't.

I saw this from a poster. Men are inherently evil. I don't know about religion but it is evident in the bible since it says that every singel human being had original sin to begin with. Sin and evil comes hand in hand so the statement appears to be true, if you are a believer in the bible.

Yet you ask, 'Why does the son not share the guilt of his father?' Since the son has done what is just and right and has been careful to keep all my decrees, he will surely live. 20 The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him.
Ezek 18:19-20

Let us lie down in our shame, and let our disgrace cover us. We have sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our fathers; from our youth till this day we have not obeyed the LORD our God."
Jeremiah 3:25

Not everyone believes we are born with sin on our soul, passed down from Adam and Eve as a result of their sin. Some of us believe, based on Scripture, that the human soul is born pure; however, human nature is sinful in that we are unable to keep from committing sin.

I think there's a difference between sinful and evil.
