Yea, Idk. I'm wondering if the main motive is that the internet might tempt them away from their faith? That was my (mis)understanding last year, I guess, when all of this happened. :blush:

I see no problem with psychology or sociology.....in fact we can pretty much study whatever we like as long as it does not impact on our spirituality or time unnecessarily.

Philosophy is something we find no use for. It is an endless circular argument for things that never quite come to any definite conclusions. It is a waste of time for anyone who has better things to do than to muse endlessly about things of no real consequence. It was even warned about in the scriptures.

Colossians 2:8:
" Look out that no one takes you captive by means of the philosophy and empty deception according to human tradition, according to the elementary things of the world and not according to Christ"

Like a lot of things in this world, it is spiritually "empty". We like to study the Bible mostly because this is the knowledge that leads to a future. (John 17:3)

I was JW and when I heard (as one) that we were not to go on the internet the reason I understood is that it might drive a believer away from The Truth.
I love the truth and even when I had decided that JWs were not the Truth, I feared going on the internet because it really might "drive me away from The Truth".

Aw. That's sad to hear, savagewind. Hopefully, you don't feel that way anymore. Although, the internet can be a tool for positives things, but it can be negative, too. All in how we use it. :)

@ your comment above about self righteous...lol Yea, that might be a better word.

Thank you. The internet did not drive me away from Jehovah like they say it might.

It might be wise to consider the possibility that what was written at Luke 21:8 was that WE should not mislead, as we see it is humanly possible and inevitable that anyone taking the lead will mislead God's flock.

Take head that YE do not lead astray for many (others) will lead the world astray John 3:17

A person of God can not be led astray so Luke 21:8 has to be saying that WE who further The Good News must be careful that we we not lead anyone away from the way, the truth and the life. I think it is also related to the admonition that we never forsake the gathering together. Hebrews 10:25

In bodily form? HOW? I am sure it means gathering together in agreement about Jesus Christ.

Those who post here then are actually going against their faith as decreed by their "elders" - and those others may well have left here first rather than being "found out" and thereby risk being kicked out and shunned totally for their perceived misdeeds....

As I say some of the rules are just - ridiculous - so ridiculous - that out of a world wide population now approaching 7 BILLION - they insist that just a handful - 144000 is it ? - will be able to follow all these rules perfectly - and only these few Souls are the "true chosen elect"... The rest of us - totally screwed they say - and that is why they will not associaite or have intimate dealings with and outright forbid anything that is none JW...

Funny. How many words, magazine, and books have Jehovah's Witnesses produced? It would take a life time or more to investigate what they have to say fully imo. Ecclesiastes 12:12 JW do not take this warning. How are we to suppose they take any warning?

144,000 become kings and priests of God with Jesus in heaven. They become saviors of all who will obey The True God for God's will be done.
So people who say, "only 144,000 will be saved"? do not know what they are talking about.

Out of has been translated by the Jehovah's Witnesses are THROUGH. But, might it mean, Revelation 18:4. This is a choice to reject the way of the world for God's favor. Everyone who obeys God from Abel on has done it

THEY say it is only about the people of the end. JWs say it means the people who will obey the governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses.

I studied with JW'S for many years. While their was an attraction to the hell-less apolitical support group style format, their isolationism, creating unhealthy echo chambers and creating lots of broken families, their steadfast adherence to young-Earth creationism and as their silly justification for being anti blood products turned me off. It would not be surprising at all to learn the Watchtower or Awake magazine put out a condemnation of using Internet sites that are too 'wordly,' they did already when AOL was at its height.
