Those who are most fortunate are thankful for every aspect of their lives, the good and bad. Being alive is a privilege.

And the most fortunate are those who realize their destiny is determined by their own power and they choose to make their life what it is.
Very good, ButteryOne. :) (Woot. The door just opened filling the room with sunshine as I hit enter. You are a powerful sprite!)

Fortune is a fickle lady who touches the beneficiary where and when she pleases. I'd say the most fortunate are those who try to increase the "fortune" of those around them... and leave no footprints in the snow as they merrily scamper away... Their reward is the deed and no more... It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Fortune is fickle lady. Wtf? Indeed this made me laugh. So fortune is not Almighty? In your case?

Yep. Any other analogy is silly, really.

Indeed this made me laugh.
I know. I get that a lot. Much of it is quite intentional. Bliss is meant for sharing, after all. :)
So fortune is not Almighty?
I never knew that it was. I don't think I've ever heard this.
In your case?
Fortune has smiled on me more than I ever expected, that much is certainly true.
I've added a new twist to an old adage of late, "No one ever promised me a rose garden. Now, I have many."
That last part is literally true, but that doesn't mean there aren't any thorns too.

Nice story - "Croesus and Solon:
According to Herodotus, Croesus encountered the Greek sage Solon and showed him his enormous wealth. Croesus, secure in his own wealth and happiness, asked Solon who the happiest man in the world is, and was disappointed by Solon's response that three had been happier than Croesus Tellus, who died fighting for his country, and the brothers Kleobis and Biton who died peacefully in their sleep after their mother prayed for their perfect happiness because they had demonstrated filial piety by drawing her to a festival in an oxcart themselves. Solon goes on to explain that Croesus cannot be the happiest man because the fickleness of fortune means that the happiness of a man's life cannot be judged until after his death. Sure enough, Croesus' hubristic happiness was reversed by the tragic deaths of his accidentally-killed son and, according to Critias, his wife's suicide at the fall of Sardis, not to mention his defeat at the hands of the Persians."

None. There are certain set of conditions, circumstances and privileges that make people considered to be fortunate. Being fortunate must be something else than being satiated and happy.
