I disagree. Husband is a combat vet from Iraq (2003-2005), oldest son served two tours in Afghanistan in combat, and second oldest son just received his first orders in the USAF.
Every time my boys were to register for selective service it ripped me apart wondering why my sons lives were considered more disposable than my daughters.
Now that the country thinks my daughters life is just as disposable, I want to confront the attitude of drafting my family for a bloated military that is already too large as a volunteer service, and chews and spits out its vets to be forgotten when they're done.
Oh, and I served as President and Treasurer for the Family Readiness Group at the base my husband reported to.
The slap in the face isn't from the draft dodger, it's the lip service of politicians and citizens that thank veterans for their service while severely handicapping enlisted and veterans to the point of homelessness, substance abuse, untreated PTSD, and suicide.
