Someone present to me an innovative religious idea in the Koran

Gharib

I want Khilafah back
I haven't studied the Koran enough to know if the behavior of Muslims is inconsistent with the teachings of the Koran. All I have to go by is how Muslims who claim to be following their book's teachings act

Oh you mean just like how I haven't studied the Bible enough to know that Christians don't give a crap what the Bible says and deem it outdated?

Here are two verses that speak of something relevant with our present world.

"And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
For what sin she was killed"
CHapter 81 verses 8-9

In China parents would have an abortion if their fetus was a female because of the 1 child policy because most favoured a son. And this is just China that we are talking about at present time.

That's a sentence fragment first of all. Second of all the commandment to refrain against murder was around for millennia. How is that an innovation?

This verse is specific for the protection of female infants/children at the time of revelation because they used to bury their daughters due to their desire for sons.

And it also applies now 1400 years later where we can see prior to birth what gender a fetus will have and abort it if a female or keep it if a male. This is present day China. If not anywhere else too.

Does this quench your thirst? Or hasn't it met your microscopic criteria yet?

I'm pretty sure that was condemned in the 6th commandment. I just see it being applied in a specific context

Actually I think the Quran gave women the right to divorce their husband.

Guys, why do you have to out smart each other with seemingly clever words like that? We're here to learn and help each other with information, not prove each other wrong.

So, I understand that the OP is about innovative ideas found in the Quran compared to the OT and the NT. Is that correct?

I'm talking about something that innovates the way we live our lives. The teachings of Jesus represent an innovation of the Old Testament. For instance where the OT preached 'an eye for and eye' Jesus preached to turn the other cheek. He offered the beatitudes 'blesses are the poor in spirit, blessed are the meek, etc'. He condemned divorce for any reason other than sexual immorality. He said never to swear an oath. These were all things not found in the Old Testament.

Muslims claim the Koran to be a miraculous book. I've heard the rhyming scheme is some of the evidence of this. I'm not impressed with rhyming. I'm impressed with ideas. I find the Koran to be a repetitive incoherent book. I can't even make it all the way through it becaus the lack of a connecting thread through what I've read makes it come across as a bunch of random thoughts just strung together. The best parts of it seem to be plagiarized from the Bible. My impression from what I've read is that it seems more like the Old Testament than the new in terms of instruction on how to live ones life. If that's the case, then it represents a regression in religious thinking. Can somebody provide me with one idea in the Koran, not already found in the Bible, that teaches people how to live better lives
The existing Quran is sufficient to deliver us to gain salvation and paradise in hereafter.

The Quran does not claim to have innovated anything. It only claims to confirm monotheism and the same millat ibrahim, the theology of Abraham. And that all messengers the same for human beings etc etc.

Nevertheless, if you want to look at it the way the OP has explained, you can look at the mans gift to the woman at marriage as an innovation.

Oh it sounds so lame but so let it be.

If you are looking for something good, it's quite reasonable to find it in religious texts. On the other hand, more important thing is for what sorts of reasons are they used for.
Even "Little Red Book" has some brilliant moments, like "let a hundred flowers bloom"... but the writer's legacy is estimated at between 18 and 45 million deaths.

Both these teachings were time-related. When people of Moses (a.s.) were weak for long times, they were given tit for tat type teaching to uplift them......Then after a long time of power they became hard hearted , they needed softness then Jesus (a.s.) brought stress on forgiveness...... Both were time related teachings.

Holy Quran made the picture complete and said to act what is best:
[42:41] And the recompense of an injury is an injury the like thereof; but whoso forgives and his act brings about reformation, his reward is with Allah. Surely, He loves not the wrongdoers.

He offered the beatitudes 'blesses are the poor in spirit, blessed are the meek, etc'.
Quran said:
[2:202] And of them there are some who say: ‘Our Lord, grant us good in this world as well as good in the world to come, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.’

He condemned divorce for any reason other than sexual immorality. He said never to swear an oath. These were all things not found in the Old Testament.
Divorce can have many reasons.
Oath is very important sometimes.

Muslims claim the Koran to be a miraculous book. I've heard the rhyming scheme is some of the evidence of this. I'm not impressed with rhyming.
Though rhyming is used in various religions and places of worship.
It is useful way to impart message.

SOME DISTINGUISHING TEACHINGS OF QURAN

[ch4:v59] Verily, Allah commands you to make over the trusts to those entitled to them, and that, when you judge between men, you judge with justice. And surely excellent is that with which Allah admonishes you! Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

[5:9] O ye who believe! be steadfast in the cause of Allah, bearing witness in equity; and let not a people’s enmity incite you to act otherwise than with justice. Be always just, that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah. Surely, Allah is aware of what you do.

THREE STAGES TO TREAT PEOPLE = ADL (JUSTICE), EHSAN ( DOING GOOD TO OTHERS), ETA E ZIL QURBA (GIVING LIKE KINDRED)

[16:91] Verily, Allah enjoins justice, and the doing of good to others; and giving like kindred; and forbids indecency, and manifest evil, and wrongful transgression. He admonished you that you may take heed.

UNIQUELY - ISLAM FOR ALL HUMANITY
[1:2] All praise to Allah, the Lord of all worlds / peoples.

[7:159] Say, ‘O mankind! truly I am a Messenger to you all from Allah to Whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. There is no God but He. He gives life, and He causes death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the Prophet, the Immaculate one, who believes in Allah and His words; and follow him that you may be rightly guided.’

ISLAM RECOGNIZES PIOUS PEOPLE OF PREVIOUS RELIGIONS
[2:63] Surely, the Believers, and the Jews, and the Christians and the Sabians — whichever party from among these truly believes in Allah and the Last Day and does good deeds — shall have their reward with their Lord, and no fear shall come upon them, nor shall they grieve.

ISLAM IS FINAL AND COMPLETE FAITH
[5:4] ".....................This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour upon you and have chosen for you Islam as religion...................."

BLESSINGS BY FOLLOWING ISLAM
[4;70]And whoso obeys Allah and this Messenger of His shall be among those on whom Allah has bestowed His blessings, namely, the Prophets, the Truthful, the Martyrs, and the Righteous. And excellent companions are these.

FOOD SHOULD BE HALAL AND TAYYAB (good pure wholesome)
[2:169] O ye people! eat of what is lawful and good in the earth; and follow not the footsteps of Satan; surely, he is to you an open enemy.

SCIENCE & RELIGION
[3:191] In the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation of the night and the day there are indeed Signs for men of understanding;
[3:193] “Our Lord, whomsoever Thou causest to enter the Fire, him hast Thou surely disgraced. And the wrongdoers shall have no helpers.
[3:194] “Our Lord, we have heard a Crier calling us unto faith, ‘Believe ye in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord, forgive us, therefore, our errors and remove from us our evils, and in death number us with the righteous.

PROPHECY IN QURAN, AT WHICH SCIENCE IS STILL WORKING ON ...
[42:30] And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and of whatever living creatures He has spread forth in both. And He has the power to gather them together when He pleases.

Comparative Religious Teachings on WAR AND PEACE
The real teaching of Islam is different from both earlier teachings. It strikes a mean between the two. Real Islam does not teach aggression or contradiction as previous to it religions presented. It does not ask us to turn the other cheek and at the same time to sell our clothes to buy a sword. The teaching of Islam fits into the natural instincts of man, and promotes peace in the only possible way.

The Prophet suffered continuously and consistently at Mecca but did not fight the aggression of which he was an innocent victim. When he escaped to Medina, the enemy was out to extirpate Islam; it was, therefore, necessary to fight the enemy in defense of truth and freedom of belief.

THREE STAGES OF HUMAN SELF: HOW TO UPLIFT RAW SELF: UNIQUE WAY.....
nafse ammarah => nafse lawamah => nafse mutmaennah

Much is said about original sin, but Islam negates that idea and tells uniquely three stages through which raw human self can be given spiritual heights.
The founder of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community explains through verses of Quran how one can get ultimate purity through Quran:

====================================================================

Fasting month of Ramadan is going on. You can see around, the difference of its observance and worship in it, compared to other religions.

Quran uniquely stresses on personal and spiritual hygiene and connects it with spiritual progress.

There are many things which can be mentioned.

Good wishes.

The Old Testament innovated the pagan culture of that time. The New Testament innovated the Old Testament. I'm trying to figure exactly what the Koran adds to our knowledge of how to live better lives. From what I can see, the Koran reads more like the Old Testament in terms of its moral teachings. If that's the case then it actually represents a regression.

You've obviously never read the bible if you think there's anything distinguishing about this teaching

This is the regression I'm talking about. You're actually supplanting the teaching of Jesus with older teachings designed for hard hearted people

Maybe the NT has problems, or maybe had to be superseded, and the Quran came to fix that and return the teachings of the OT?

Hehehe....yeah that's it. There were problems with the teaching of Jesus so we needed Mohammed to set us straight and send us back to Old Testament times

Believe it or not, the Quran gave more rights to women than they had in the Bible.
Yes, it's a "well known fact" that women in the Muslim world are treated so much better. Just look at all the examples of women rulers in the Muslim world compared to the rest of the world that have never had any such female rulers.
