Would God bless America?

People are always using this phrase, I'm just wondering what others think. So, would God bless America?

Why not? Would God bless any country? I don't see this country being inferior to others. Isn't God supposed to be unconditional love?

He most certainly did, I am afraid we blew it just as the Hebrews did, we traded the one true Y H V H for make believe idols of all kinds, i.e. dollar, NFL, bigger car, bigger house, bigger TV, or whatever, we have become a nation of professors, not do'ers of the Word.

A repentant America is no where found in scripture, so He won't bless America again.

I don't see this country as being inferior to others either, it's just that people are always saying this phrase and I was just wondering why people would think that God should or would bless America.

I don't think we should think that America deserves God's blessing any more than any other country. I think it is said just like you would say God bless our home.

Right but I don't think that God would actually bless America for some and other reasons mentioned by Ronald. I'm not sure God would bless any nation as a whole at this point in the world.

Lots of things found in the world today aren't found in scripture. Does that mean God doesn't approve of them?

Never thought much of it before Salam. I wonder if other countries say God bless (insert country) their native country.

If God hasn't blessed this country, then how come we have tasty microbrews?

Why would he not? If America is the people that compose her, wouldn't saying "God Bless America" really be saying "God Bless you" to everyone? Moreover, it is like a prayer for proctection and gudience.

I think you could, if you were so inclined, make a very long list of positive things about this country (or most any country, for that matter). IF you want to think of the things on that list as the blessings of deity, then you are perfectly free to do so. Even in this bleakest of hours (I refer to the re-election of Bush), there are many, many positive things about this country. Looked at from a religious perspective, there are always ways in which deity blesses a country.

Sorry there is nothing under the sun that is not in scripture. It is that you have not found it. I do suppose you have become aware of the Torah Codes aren't you?
The Rabbi's say every person is in the words of Torah and Tanach. As far as I can tell there is not one scripture of an America repenting and becoming Blessed again. All we can look forward to is Judgement.
Many people say America fits the description of the endtime Babylon and THAT IS NOT GOOD!

Well my main argument as to why God wouldn't bless this country is because it's laws are secular, sure some of them might be based/agree with God's law but they are still secular. Also our materialistic society that we have, which we let run our lives. Our possessions and want of more possessions seem to be the main driving force behind peoples lives here, unstead of the submission to the Will of God.

Salam, it intrigues me that I find some common ground with you. I don't subscribe to the notion that submission to the Will of God is the answer to America's materialism, but I do share your concern that our consumerism is spiritually (and psychologically) degrading.

I ment that our materialism takes away from our submission to the Will of God.

You guys are on to something here. If we attach ouselves to worldly things, they will posses us. If we attach ourselves to God, He will possess us. Which choice do think would bear better fruit?
