Post your favourite bhajans

Since it is Ekadashi, I feel like I should share a bhajan. This one is one of my favourite Bhajans in Geeta Govinda, (written by Jayadeva Goswami) in glorification of Sri Krsna. Lord Chaitanya used to simply sit in His room in Jagannatha Puri and ask Ramananda Raya to recite the Geet Govinda while He experienced its emotions. The later songs of the book are way too confidential to be discussed publicly, but the first Bhajan (which acts to invite Lord Krsna into the heart) is so beautiful.

śrita-kamalā-kuca-maṇḍala dhṛta-kuṇḍala e
kalita-lalita-vana-māla jaya jaya deva hare

O One whose feet are marked with the Lotus, and who wears jeweled earings. You wear a beautiful garland of forest flowers, All glories All glories to You, Lord Hari!

{Note here "jaya jaya deva hare" can have many meanings. One can take the meaning above, or it can be read as jaya jayadeva hare meaning "All glories to You, who steals the suffering of Jayadeva (the author)"} deva hare can also refer to Krsna (deva) and Radha (Hara).}

dina-maṇi-maṇḍala-maṇḍana bhava-khaṇḍana e
muni-jana-mānasa-haḿsa jaya jaya deva hare

Your face and ornaments shines like the Sun itself. O One who destroys material suffering. You are the swan who wanders in the mind of the sages, All glories All glories to You, Lord Hari!

{Here dina mani mandala can be read as "Vrndavana", changing the meaning to "You are the ornament of Vrndavana itself"}

kāliya-viṣa-dhara-gañjana jana-rañjana e
yadukula-nalina-dineśa jaya jaya deva hare

You remove the poison of Kaliya, O one who gives pleasure to Your devotees. You are the sun which causes the Lotus flower of the clan of Yadhu to blossom, All glories All glories to You, Lord Hari!

madhu-mura-naraka-vināśana garuḍāsana e
sura-kula-keli-nidāna jaya jaya deva hare

You destroy the demons like Madhu and Mura, O one who rides of Garuda. Your pastimes are a source of bliss for the demigods. All glories All glories to You, Lord Hari!

amala-kamala-dala-locana bhava-mocana e
tribhuvana-bhuvana-nidhāna jaya jaya deva hare

You eyes are like a spotless and perfect Lotus, O one who steals away the material existence. You maintain and provide for the three worlds. All glories All glories to You, Lord Hari!

janaka-sutā-kṛta-bhūṣaṇa jita-dūṣaṇa e
samara-śamita-daśa-kaṇṭha jaya jaya deva hare

Your are decorated by the daughter of Janaka (Sita), O one how is victorious over the demon Dhusana. In the battle field you defeated the 10 headed one (Raavan). All glories All glories to You, Lord Hari!

abhinava-jala-dhara-sundara dhṛta-mandara e
śrī-mukha-candra-cakora jaya jaya deva hare

Your body is the beautiful color of a newly formed raincloud, O One who held the mountain (Govardhan). Sri (Radha) feasts on your face, just like a Chakora Bird feasts on the light of the moon. All glories All glories to You, Lord Hari!

tava caraṇaḿ praṇatā vayam iti bhāvaya e
kuru kuśalaḿ praṇateṣu jaya jaya deva hare

We make this prayer at your lotus feet: "Please shower Your Mercy on me!". All glories All glories to You, Lord Hari!

śrī-jayadeva-kaver idaḿ kurute mudam e
mańgalam ujjvala-gītaḿ jaya jaya deva hare

"The poet Jayadeva offers this auspicious and effulgent song at your feet. All glories All glories to You, Lord Hari!

This song is also used when the dancers perform in front of Lord Jagannatha. It is a very traditional oddissi dance.

Perhaps this is an aarti from a film soundtrack, but knowing the context helps bring out the sweetness in the clips-
Aga Bai Arechya is a remake of the American film What Women Want.. we see the protagonist as he first is able to "hear" women's thoughts,
and finds himself more joyous and free in his heart.
One doesn't need to understand Marathi to enjoy!

Jay Radha Madhava, sung by the Hare Krishnas before Bhagavad Gita class. Here are the lyrics:

LYRICS:

(1)
jaya rādhā-mādhava kuñja-bihārī
gopī-jana-vallabha giri-vara-dhārī

(2)
yaśodā-nandana braja-jana-rañjana
yāmuna-tīra-vana-cārī

TRANSLATION

1) Krsna is the lover of Radha. He displays many amorous pastimes in the groves of Vrndavana, He is the lover of the cowherd maidens of Vraja, and the holder of the great hill named Govardhana.

2) He is the beloved son of mother Yasoda, the delighter of the inhabitants of Vraja, and He wanders in the forests along the banks of the River Yamuna!

I really like the unusual tune, and I like Jagjit Singh's voice.

I was listening to this on the way home from work and loved it! I was wondering the words, thank you for sharing them

Jaya Nitai!

Dandavat Pranam everyone. Everything is awesome here, preparing for the upcoming Nityananda Prabhu's appearance day on Thursday. Will pray for all of you. I have recently hearing the most beautiful pastimes of Lord Ramachandra. They are such sweet pastimes, and I think since Lord Rama was the marayada purushottama, this pastimes teach us so much about how to live our lives dharmically (in comparison to Sri Krsna, whom we shouldn't try and imitate ahahaha). I really like the below bhajan which summarizes Ramayana is song form. It was written by Ravindra Jain, who wrote many beautiful bhajans to Lord Rama and Krsna, and they have been a very dear part of my childhood (my attraction to the Lord was prob due to him). So I'll share it. It is spoken by Sukadeva Goswami to Pariksit Maharaj in Bhagavatam. Subtitles are there too.

The saddest part is when they are describing Lord Sita Rama leaving Ayodhya. It is very painful for all those in Ayodhya.
And then the epic part, when the Lord breaks the bow easily (when He was only supposed to string it).
And when Bharat carries the Lord's Sandals on his head, and for all those years Rama was in exile, the Sandals of the Lord sat on the thrones of Ayodhya.
And the last line is so beautiful:

kahe sune kitana hon koi
rama nidhi shesha na hoi

"No matter how many times one way speak and hear it, the storehouse of the pastimes of Lord Rama can never end"
