As for praying that will be enough, the minimum, it can be made more elaborate but never oppressive. She is the Mother. Talk to her about what is happening in your life and ask her the best course of future action. When disturbed, find solace in her, seek strngth from her. That is from one (myself), who is an atheist but once was a theist - so I know. :D

Thank You Aupmanyav Ji,

And Also I Pray To Kali Ma Anywhere at any time like before i leave the house i say a prayer to Kali Ma For Protection And Guidence And when i sit on my bike i say a prayer to Kali Ma For A Safe Journey. Is This Okay ? Or Is It Compulsary I Must Pray only infront of Kali Ma's picture. If I Do Not Have A Altar For Kali Ma Can I Give Kali Ma Her Favourite Flowers Which Are Hibiscus Flowers Just By Leaving them In A Garden For Her .

Do the Mother a favor. Drive safely. No, praying before an image is not necessary. You can remember her any time.
I Am Attached To Shiv Ji And Kali Ma.
In spite of being an atheist, I am very much attached to Shiva and Mother Kali - Mom and Dad to hundreds of millions of Hindus.

Jai jai, Aupji! Me, too, if we're confessing attachments today. And Those Two-in-One just love to morph into Lord Narayana and Sri Lakshmi, "my" Mom and Dad! Wonderful show, isn't it?!

I see them in the garb of Sri Rama and Mother Sita or in garb of Sri Krishna and Mother Rukmini. I do not know for sure. My eye sight is not what once it used to be. You see Sassimaa, they are both dark-hued and the mothers are both fair. Then, there is the aura emanating from them which makes it difficult for me to see them clearly.

Namaste, all
In my slippers, padding through the kitchen again, wondering where everybody is, wondering if it's appropriate (or appreciated? that's a thought, too) to share some of my interactions with the devotees here in Mount Shasta? I guess since I'm not hearing a loud chorus of 'boos' to my previous communiques, I'll just keep on keeping on .

So, the Universe arranged a little over a year ago to bring into my field a fellow who had been maintaining celibacy (not exactly by choice, I gather) for 12 years. He became enamoured and approached me, signaling he wished to enjoy physical intimacy.

Yes, I do utterly know what you mean, 'ji. Ya think it's the blurring of eyesight, do ya? Aging eyes 'n all that, huh? Heh heh heh.

EDIT: Oy veh!! Panduranga!! I had started another post and decided against posting it but the forum gods had another plan. Ah, jeez. I was going to share how I handled it, thinking it might be helpful but then I thought maybe I just like to read my own verbiage, thinking how clever I am. Criminy.

Sassimaa, kindly do not use 'ji' for me. It sounds very much RSS/BJP - Narendraji, Rajnathji, Madhavji, etc., not that I do not agree with their philosophy, but somehow. :) I better like informal address.

Don't know RSS/BJP? Some esoteric code? (Bharata Janaxx Party? I forget.) So, I will try to comply with your "likes" but no promises. I was taught that to append 'ji to a sir's or lady's name was to show respect due to that person, no more no less. Although all souls should be treated with respect, IMO you ARE due that. But just to make sure I'm not scratching at a little owey you might have, may I remind you, dearest brother, that we are to receive blame and censure, honor and ignominy, respect and disrespect with the same contentment? If you think you are different from those stellar personages you named, you are. You can run with that thought all the way to Brahman.

Is It True That You Are Not Suppossed To Keep A Picture Of Kali Ma At Home. And Is It True That You Are Not Allowed To Pray To Kali Ma At Home. Some People are saying its Not Good To Keep A Picture Of Kali Ma And Pray To Her At Home They Say Its Causes Problems. They Say You Should Have A Shrine Made Outside The House For Kali Ma.

I Read This Somewhere thats Why I am asking.

Also My Image Is On My MOBILE I Open My Image To Pray To Kali Ma. Then I Close The Image Once I Am Done Praying To Kali Ma.
Sometimes No Matter Where I Am Even If I Do Not Have A Image Of Kali Ma On My MOBILE i still Pray To Kali Ma At Any Time Anywhere. I Talk To Kali Ma Just The Same Way Like I Talk To My Mom. Kali Ma Is My Divine Mother And I Consider My Self As Her Son I Really Love Kali Ma As A Mother.

I Hope Kali Ma Does Not Get Angry Because Of The Way I Worship Her.I Do Not Want To Make My Divine Mother Angry. Because My
Methods Of Praying To Kali Ma Is Not Exactly The Same As Other Hindus.I Made My Own method As You Can See its not exactly the same as other hindus.Because i have no one to guide me on how to pray to Kali Ma.

Wolf, I would not hesitate to keep a Kali image or idol in my house. One can see the smiling Mother Durga in an enraged Kali image or idol. One can see the mother in any form, Are they different? Are they two? So here is my Kali to you, smiling, not in a ferocious mood. And an image of "Shanta Durga" (Peaceful Durga). She has a very famous and beautiful temple in Goa, India.

The people who say these things are generally of a different sect, a different religion, or have been influenced greatly by local customs regarding superstition.

I read that somewhere too, a long time ago. I wish I could tell you where, but nevertheless I agree with you that it's wrong. I also found this:

M10.gif

"OM Sri Maha Kalikayai Namah" (Prostrations to Mother Kali)

Kali is that divine aspect which is responsible for the destruction and eradication of negative qualities in this world. She is the transformative power of Divinity , which dissolves the individual into cosmic union. Maha Kali is one of the most fearsome of all the expressions of the Divinity. Because of the intensity of her purgative nature, very few people are initiated to this Mantra. http://www.rudraksham.com/sagunamantra2

@wolf2025 I have a small statue of Maa Kālī on my altar.

I've had it for quite a while now, even before returning to Hinduism. I felt it calling to me. It feels perfectly right to have it.

It's funny how you notice things. There's a discussion here about the number of Vishnu's avatars and who is and who isn't one. I mentioned that around the Vishnu sanctums at the temple are all his avatars, manifestations and aspects: Hayagriva, Dhanvantari, Mahāvishnu, and even Kalki, and others, but no Buddha. What did strike me, and I had to do a double take because I never saw it before, is a carving of Harihara, the combined form of Vishnu and Shiva. I kid you not. Besides Krishna and Narasimha, this is a form I am drawn to, because I am also drawn to Shiva.

Harihara - perhaps because the depiction, iconography, does not help focusing. Better to keep a Shiva idol and a Vishnu/avatara idol side by side.

Harihara statue in British Museum, Harihara statue returned to Combodia by France, Harihareshwara in Badami,
