Can't use it, as staff. Before I was, I used it, but all of the ones I put there were eventually banned so no issue really.

It's useless on the forums anyways, because you will see the posts in other people's quotes.

However, for stopping unwanted PM's it's very effective.

I've had a member or two post they put me on ignore. So it goes.:D

I don't use it..if I don't like a certain post, I'll respond to it if it's not worth responding to I just move on to another thread or post.

Not so far. I post on another site with many haters on it but I have put no one on ignore. I don't think it is right for me to attempt to take away someone else's freedom of speech even if I find it abhorrent.

Of course, and there are some cases where I do just that. In others, however, it's just a question of cleaning up the clutter or, perhaps, weeding a garden. And, be honest, it's modestly cathartic while making the moderator's job a bit easier. :D

I think it's useful if you know that one someone who just drives you round the twist and you are tempted to respond, pick and fight and watch a thread spiral out of control. Easier to put such a person on ignore to avoid the resulting chaos.

There are two people on my ignore list, very close to three. I'm pretty against ignoring people, but if you show you're not slightly interested in these discussions, you just want to insult others or start fights, you consistently bring nothing to the table, and so on then I'm not going to waste my time reading your stuff. It's not even really about them, I just can't take childish nonsense or unwavering ignorance or rudeness. It makes me mad, then I stress myself out trying to get through to them, or lose my cool and risk administrator intervention. Not worth it for trolls.

Actually you don't in the new system. In the old software it was true. You would see the ignored posts in the quotes, but in the new, you don't. You don't even see if they start any threads, or have responded to you, or anything. They're basically like gone.

That's me to a T.

I came from a forum where it was very common to be rude, and it was allowed. It was very liberating and cathartic, but I got to a point where I felt I had to move on and learn to be more respectful. So I came to this site to learn it. I'm still struggling with starting to curse and call people nasty things when I disagree, but it's a work in progress. My goal is to learn to debate my opinions, so when someone start to use "face palm", *derp*, calling names, or "boohoo" etc, then it's just detrimental to what I want to learn and do. The only way for me not to fall into the trap is to hide them away. Essentially, it's not them, it's me. It's my journey, and I don't need their input.

It's just annoying for instance when someone keep on posting pictures to make fun of and mock the other people they disagree with. It's one thing to make funny jokes in a friendly/brotherly/sisterly fashion, but mocking removes the ability to reason or discuss.

Yup. It's removing the clutter and distractions. Easier to keep a cool head without having to deal with the hotheads.

The only people I have permanently on ignore are those who only ever respond to threads with a novelette's worth of scripture. I have no interest in scripture whatsoever and would rather skip it entirely than scroll past it.

I have put some people on ignore temporarily. These are people who have in some way given me cause to believe they're trying to provoke a reaction. Their opinions aren't worthless to me in the same way a reel of scripture is, but I prefer to deal with them when I've had a little time to cool off.

Many times I ignore myself. My troll will tell me, "say it", but I won't. It is not so I won't get in trouble. It is because..........why is it? Why do I ignore that troll sometimes? I shall have to think about it.

Not anymore. It's good to use if you want to keep your pm's open, but don't want a pm from a particular person. Then, the ignore feature comes in handy. But, to ignore someone's posts? Meh. But unwanted pm's? Definitely useful.
