On a side note, I find this a bit self centered. We concentrate on who is left behind and we forget the victim: the child agonizing to death. He is expendable, as long as our need of growth finds a resolution.

I am not sure whether the need of growing up spiritually (whatever that means) morally justifies the torturing to death of a little toddler. Are you?

It is self-centered. But that is who we pity, that is why death is considered 'sad' and 'bad' not because it is, but because of the people left behind. They're the ones who make it into an ordeal.

And we're all expendable, Life isn't the be all and end all to anyone but Atheists.

I am not sure. If that was true, than it is no clear why you guys consider the death of a child bad, or sad. He did not really die, did he? He actually got a risk free ticket to eternal bliss.

Like I said, the only reason death is considered sad or bad is because of the people left behind.

And it's hard to shake indoctrination, the way we've been taught to see death all our lives. Some people can, some can't. It doesn't really matter though.

It's a matter of How.

God allows everyone to sin during the period of time on earth (it's one's life time which is relatively short), such that sin can be eradicated (eternally) with open witnessing (of the angels).

That such questions are asked befuddles me. We're talking about an entity that is categorically distinct from humans given it would perceive and understand reality in a way that we as a species can't even come close to comprehending. In spite of this, we're expecting it to behave as a human and conform to human reasoning and motivations. How logical!
