As always, I was indecisive. I once owned several instruments, mostly woodwind. Sometimes, even other people would recognize the tunes I was playing. My favourite was the classical spanish guitar, and and I didn't do too badly with it.
Then, I sold most of them to finance my first (almost) real computer: the Microbee. I got some USD 1300 for the 4 flutes, 2 Bflat clarinets, 1 alto clarinet, an oboe etc. That was almost enough for this fantastic box, featuring the lightning speed of 3.375 MHz (three point three seven five), 128 kB RAM (incredible!) and a mass memory!! no kidding!!! you could connect a tape recorder for long time storage!!!! (In those days, nobody knew how to spell "disk(ette)".)
After my stroke, my left hand and me very often have dissimilar views on what to do. So now (if not before) you know what causes any unedited typos.
An instrument I'd really love to own is the contrebass sarrusophone. The Musical Instruments Through the Ages by Anthony Baines describes its sound as "slightly suggestive of the Jurassic fauna".
Not being able to find one outside of a museum in Brussels, I plan to have a French bassoon (not even a contrebassoon) refurbished.
