Abrahamic Faiths - Common Faith

Muffled

Jesus in me
Then you do not base your life 100% on religion as your post seemed to imply.

I am sorry if you feel personally attacked, I truly believe that most people that are reborn and born among ISIS will fight for them and not rebel.
I believe rebellion is a familiar fact of youth. The hippies were aghast when they found their kids enraptured by the material lifestyle and supporting conventions.

Jesus in me
Not for me. I never believed that the world was flat. Quran states in Surah An-Nazi'at 79:30 that God made the earth egg-shaped (Arabic: Dahaha). This word, Dahaha, is a very complex word in Arabic and I've been learning the language for years and still couldn't find the actual root of it, as you may know that the language of the Quran is 1400 years old. And many words in the Quran can mean so many things depending on the context and the time you're at. Like Dahaha, the meaning could be egg-shaped or spherical or even wide spread. God knows best.

We get that with old Hebrew also. There is a passage in Job that is badly translated because no-one knows the true meaning of the words. I found it difficult to wrap my mind around the fact that in Arabic two nouns together mean that in English there would be an "is" between them. However it did make sense in the passage that says "God his son."

Hello, I've recently started learning about the Abrahamic Faiths i.e Judaism, Christianity, Islam. In my faith, it is an article of faith to believe that sacred books like Gospel and Torah came from the very same God. I believe that even in the Jewish literature, they do have such things like a common faith.

There are certainly many similarities between each scriptures and it amazes me to learn about this nature and it made me want to learn more about religions. So for now, I hope I could get some responses from my Jewish and Christian brothers and sisters regarding this issue:

Deuteronomy 6:4:
"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord"

Mark 12:29:
"Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord."

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:163:
"And your god is one God. There is no deity [worthy of worship] except Him, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful."

My question to my brothers and sisters, what is the difference between the statements of Moses and Jesus regarding their commandment? Why did Jesus repeated what Moses has said earlier? In your opinion, why do you think Jesus didn't just simply come up with statement like "The Lord our God is Me"?I and [my] Father are one. -

May God guide us all to the straight path.

Hello, I'm David and hopefully I can answer your questions from what I understand the scriptures to say.

"what is the difference between the statements of Moses and Jesus regarding their commandment?" - None. They are in complete harmony.

"Why did Jesus repeated what Moses has said earlier?" - Jesus spent a lot of time time trying to teach the religious leaders of his day that He was who John the Baptist said He was. Then there's this: "And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life." - John 5:37-40. The entirety of scripture in all 66 books is about Jesus Christ (v39).

"In your opinion, why do you think Jesus didn't just simply come up with statement like "The Lord our God is Me"?" - I think He did.

Jesus saith unto him, "Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I [am] in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. - John 14:9-11

I and [my] Father are one. - John 10:30

Hope that helps. Welcome to the forum and may God richly bless you.

Rebellion is much more extreme today than it has been in the past. Under more strict rules it often does not happen to such an extent.
